About…. Thoughts on 23 and 24
There is not much more to say to the year 2023 than I already did over and over again and again, and since others have now come out to talk about the events of late too, I am too tired to repeat or add to it.
Altogether, 23 was rather a breather. In fact, it gave people time to forget what has happened to them. And forget they do, believing it was just a bad dream. Some have not even a recollection because now it is life as usual. Sadly, it is far from it and sadly, this is just the calm before the big storm that is yet to come.
Sure, more people are now aware of how they have been duped, lied to, abused and driven into despair due to sudden poor health, poverty and, death of a loved one. But! Nothing has come of it, no change, no retribution, no apologies neither from the instigators, nor their followers. The crooks are still in power, cementing themselves in with new laws and relentless persecution for the ones not in line with them. The world has been turned upside down, the righteous sit in jail, crime gets worse by the day and the cry for the saviour gets louder. So, nothing has changed, nor will it, not for the better anyway. It seems the pain has not yet reached the point where it is unbearable and too many find it still too absurd to believe that a group of people could attempt to knowingly cause harm and strive to become the ruling class of the world and play God. Indeed, who of a sound is not stunned by the delusional bubbles oozing out of every orifice of these evil-minded lot. But and that is a big but, Evil can only grow, if left unchecked and unopposed, just like weed takes over all else when not taken care of by the gardener.
What is there left to add when even in hindsight, albeit learning the truth, insight does not keep pace with it. The traps are now closing. Once they are shut tight, even with the violence of despair, escape will only, if at all possible, cost blood and lives. 23 was sadly only a breather for us, the ignorant plebs, because the enemy needed to review, re-evaluate its strategies, reform and, adapt them, reinforcing and strengthening their battleground and front lines, securing their headquarters and, building bunkers, should they need to retreat for a little while.
It sure is not easy to watch the inevitable unfolding, but it was a long time coming and there is no way to blame only one side for its development into outright war. After all, war is a culmination of many things festering unresolved, usually over a long time. It may start with niggling and prodding, rather as a nuisance than something major. But it grows because it is not taken seriously, or as too hard to look for an early intervention and resolution. One party fools itself by minimising, ignoring, rationalizing the problems for all kinds of reasons, while the other gets more brazen if not stopped. However! Getting away with harassment, abuse or even plain violence acts like a poisoned spearhead in the flesh which cannot be shaken off. The guilty perpetrator wants the victim to stand up against him as it makes them equal, allowing him to openly be violent, which he always is either way. In any case, he always will blame the other or something, even claim provocation as an excuse for his evil deeds.
Unfortunately, all too often you hear victims say, when asked why they do not defend themselves, fighting back, even with force: ‘I do not want to be become the same like them, I am better than them; the enemy wants me to become violent and I be dragged down to his level’. So, they hang in and bear more abuse even to the bitter end. But, if they do not stand up and fight, they will have to flee or retaliate later down the road anyway. At one point they will have to grab a weapon to defend themselves and even kill the other, or they will die, no doubt about it.
When you dissect the above statements, they are grotesque, because you never are the same than the perpetrator. To defend yourself is not evil, instead, you become complicit with evil by letting evil get away with its evil deed. To defend your life and that of others, to stand up against abusers and criminals of all kinds, to take up a weapon for the good to prevail is a duty, not a competition about who is morally on higher grounds than the other. The excuse not to fight because we are ‘better than them’ is lame and as hollow as an empty keg of beer, because it allows a conflict to escalate to outright war, which is the final conflict resolution. Then, both parties fight on the same battle field. There is no better or worse level, war is war, it is the killing fields, and the victorious party can afterwards claim the moral grounds for the right or wrong reasons.
Good people have no need to insist on being better than the other. Instead, they act as soon as evil raises its head for that is the time when a simple and categorical strong NO would suffice to stop evil in its track. Moral high grounds are claims without merits. How many good people were there in the recent years, particularly in the last four to react immediately to the obvious transgressions on basic human rights?
However! To dwell on the past is not beneficial without learning from it and I believe people did and still are in the process of doing just that. Sadly, the problem is that evil has not been stopped. It has only been aggravated. But it had to show its face and faces. And what ugly faces they are! Naturally, it forces evil to speed up its pursuit. 23 is the year of the double-edged sword. Remember, while people became hopeful again as the wounds start to heal, all resources on the other side of the divide were examined, sorted, improved or discarded and new tools added, to forge ahead with decisive strategies to achieve the set goals. And their resources are incredibly rich and versatile. They employ the best of the best in their fields of expertise, who are happily willing to serve them, while any opponent of equal abilities at least, and definitely of higher integrity in character, are silenced, by whatever means.
A final thought to 23, the most important anyway, nature is currently taking over. The “Evil Brigade” believing it can control nature, is mistaken, of course. It can interfere with it, as it has done now for so long, but controlling it would require far more power than the whole brigade can yield. Nature will succeed in re-establishing the balance for life to go on, and hopefully so on our planet Earth. It may not be the life as we know it, but after all, planet life is not the only life there is. And mind you, the topic of “climate change” is not what I refer to here, because that is part of the Kabal, not what I mean by the ‘nature of existence’.
So, what does that mean for 24? I rather do not delve too deep into predictions since the future is never set in stone. On the more general level, the year will be dramatic. More pain, more lives lost, more ugliness than beauty, more despair and more regrets, but also more resilience and more hope, because phoenix always rises from the ashes, more beautiful and with renewed strength, hardened and forged by fire. The human race has the opportunity to come out of its troubled teenage years with a sound mind and insights beyond the current comprehension, leaving its confusing search for its identity behind, and truly understand what life is all about. And NO! This is not achieved with AI, because AI replaces humans, not making them wiser. 24 will make us or break us. And one has to be very clear about phoenix. This bird rises out of the ashes of any fire and will soar in other skies as good. Earth is not the only planet in the vast expanses of the universe, where life as we know it, may strive. That we have not found any evidence of it as yet means little. It certainly does not mean, it cannot exist.
While the exploration of the universe is exiting, let us not forget to look at our home first and with all our love and care it deserves. Our blue planet is a jewel and to let it shine again in its lustrous colour sure is worth every effort. But humans have to decide now to invest into their own future in harmony with nature, or vanish as nature cleans out the house.
And there is one other particularly important thing to remember, which is the understanding of the meaning of “double speak”, the language spoken by a forked tongue. What sounds reasonable and re-assuring, is in fact anything but. Of course, it lies in the nature of our existence to have two sides to a story as there are two sides to a coin. After all, we live in a dualistic world (bipolarity of existence). It therefore applies to everything, including language, the tool of communication in service of social life. But language is more than that. It is an expression of thought for specific purposes and has two facets to it. One is the ‘modus operandi’, the other what goal should be achieved. For example, you may listen to a beautiful song, stirring up emotions to which you can relate due to your past experiences or a current situation. You react to it in your very own way, not realizing that you are driven into a certain direction and lead on a path, not because you chose it, but because you got carried on to it and swept away with it. It means, language, spoken, written, sung or in whatever way artistically expressed, can manipulate people’s mind without them being aware of it. What in fact expresses a positive and acceptable message in your opinion pursues nothing good and leads you with your permission down a nefarious path into a trap you will not recognize as such. Therefore, you will hardly try to escape from it before it is too late anyway.
Let us look at another example of ‘double meaning’ since it has become the slogan of specific political interests. To say, ‘you will own nothing and will be happy’, does not really sound bad, isn’t it? In fact, it is true, you do not need anything worldly to be happy and possessions cause a lot of headaches, work, worries to get and keep them, or even get more, but the point is, you can be happy with or without possessions, neither will guarantee your happiness. It is thus erroneous and misleading to insist that possessions and ownership of goods are a bad thing. People are bad, not things that you have, or make you rich. Though, strictly speaking, the more you own, the less likely it is that you live in peace, neither within your environment, communities, nor with yourself. Certain is but, that nobody really owns anything. You only claim ownership, for a purpose, of course, and it is reasonable too, to a certain and beneficial extent. For instance, claiming a territory to ensure your survival is a basically instinctual need applicable to the animal kingdom for the right reason, but even there, no true ownership exists. To recognize ownership over materialistic things as an illusion would be a sign of maturity of a truly civilised society, where man has grown up, having left his animal past to memory in favour of intelligent insight to foster progress for his and all life. It would make wars over territory obsolete. Actually, modern wars are not fought because people have nothing to eat, they are fought to have more to eat than the other and, for dominance over the other. A truly civilised race would not want to go to war, would not need to dominate. People would work together to make life as prosperous as possible for all and everything. After all, the point of life is to foster the development of consciousness, from the micro-cosmic proportion that our own species represents, to the macro-cosmic, pervasive consciousness of the universe and ultimately the transcendent consciousness of it all. Transcendence is a big word and nobody really seems to understand it, though it is actually simple, meaning there is no longer the division into dualistic thought concepts, where you take sides. Instead of separation is unity, accepting the existence of both without the need to judge. And where a coin is just a coin, understanding that it has to have 2 sides, but the value is the same on both sides. It does not matter what you have, own, claim to own. What matters is what you do with it. But what matters the most is what you do with your life, because it is indeed the only thing you do own. And finally, since your life is not an independent unit, only part of life altogether, what do you do for life itself? In short, if you claim ownership of whatever it is, you are responsible to take care of it. And make no mistake: Ownership does not equal possession. Ownership is all about responsibility. Possession is all about control and power. Its language is that of the forked tongue in the classic meaning of “double speak”.
So! What will 24 be like? It will certainly not be an easy year that is a given. A scenario of misery is definitely a realistic assumption but that does not mean it will be. The signs of rising awareness are more than hope and wishful thinking. However, we all must face the fact that we are walking a precarious path. If we cannot get our act together now, it cannot be emphasised enough, we will be doomed and so may also be our planet. However, 24 is not the end of the world, even if the point of no return is coming closer more quickly than we think. It is unlikely that the end, doomsday so to speak, would be a quick event anyway. Death will be by stealth, as it has already is apparent. It may accelerate as the momentum rises, but time is relative and therefore hard to estimate precisely. And yes, there may be cataclysmic occurrences, man-made or not, even a meteor may hit Earth, all is possible, but it still does not mean instantaneous death to everything everywhere. I am not sure what is the better way to go. I am but very sure that I wish for life to go on and prosper.
Usually, I would publish end of year thoughts timelier to the turnover of the year, but this time I hesitated due to my perception that 23 and 24 have no real distinction. They rather flow into each other and the prospects won’t differ dramatically because what we are going through at this point is not limited to one year, too massive are the changes. But let us hope for the best and do everything we can to let life prosper once again and we, that is our children, can live in harmony with nature and in peace with each other and that we, the human race can indeed reach our destination.

About …Life and Human Species (3/3)
Finally, we should at least touch the mental/spiritual category of Life, which is still veiled in mystery, foremost because technology fails to shine the light fully into it, yet. Thus, the scientific background for discussion is mostly theoretical and hypothetical, hardly able to substantiate claims and concepts with evidence as to what that kind of life is all about. Though there is no doubt it being part of our existence and the whole evolutionary process, the mental/spiritual evolution is only at the beginning and rudimentary at best. Never mind! Let us tease out the thread and, find out what is on offer.
Cognition and its constant expansion and adjustments help an organism to survive. It is fundamental, a pillar in the foundation of Life to begin with. It was never missing, just had a long way to go before it got recognized as part of existence. Its development is most profound in us the human kind, but we should never ever forget that it is as applicable and inevitable for all organisms. Despite not being realized as such, it is not justified to simply jump to conclusions in false pride. Humans neither have the means, nor the interest to find out, how, or what other species perceive of their existence. We still deny them, at least most do, to even have emotions, social bindings, dreams and, cognition of the higher order. We certainly do not think they could have existential thought. But a bigger brain is no measure of cognitive functioning, nor intelligence. It certainly is not the answer to consciousness either. Though humans had so far great success in the quest of survival, to the detriment of other creatures, we do not know nor really care to know, how to use our abilities constructively. Even now, since the mental/spiritual world is the realm of quantum physics, where nothing is what it seems and everything is possible, – we still have no clue what do with it, not yet at least.
Anyway! With new methods in research new doors open, prodding new evolutionary growth that sure will significantly improve our mental capacity and consequently, spiritual comprehension. Interestingly, facts or truth (as in true facts), are hidden in religious texts and teachings, but nobody so far has bothered to untangle them from ages of distortions and misinterpretations to which intuitive knowledge is subjected to, pitifully so, but not surprising. Our comprehension of reality depends on experience and collected knowledge for the most part of it, which again depends on (generational) age, the time we had to collect it. It seems we lose the link to all reality when we are born so we can start to collect data anew. But data was collected from the very beginning of organic life. It is done in form of screening the new reality during the lifespan of an individual organism for its significance before being stored in the memory bank that is the DNA. Each time the DNA gets longer and longer, when new data is added with the purpose of passing on relevant information to the offspring. No important data, nothing is ever lost, but all information is filtered to prevent interference with an organism’s day to day functioning. Information is not confined to pure physical data, (like, for example, in foetal development gill slits point at the evolutionary path we once walked), we also inherit personality traits and even bad habits, which may turn into predisposing traits, for example alcoholism and, go right through to hereditary illnesses. What we need for our lives as a species and as an individual is stored in our genetic material for the better or for worse. All and everything, including us as an individual entity, we all evolve by constantly partaking in evolution itself. We participate in all processes, be that a metaphase or during transitions, where atoms are rearranged, and a new reality emerges, or be it a settled phase to let the new data sink in and take on a life on its own. At the beginning of our journey as an organism, first up, we must touch, feel, smell, because otherwise we have troubles to use and understand the world around us, like a baby that puts everything into its mouth to probe that what it has clutched, can be eaten.
The mental/spiritual evolution will be but faster than matter has taken to evolve. It is due to energy not carrying the weight of increased mass, which makes mass sure potent but less agile. Just consider how fast you can think compared to how fast you can run. The brain does not slow energy down as much as your body does. However, energy is and remains the life line, the “mover and shaker” of development. Our cognitive hardware (brain) and its astonishing functional capacities, have but only recently become more open to research with the improved technical advancements at hand. It is the new field of interest and equals space exploration, which also is a rather recent development, surpassing the time, when we were just star gazing and moon dancing.
The Penrose-Hameroff theory (1990) already suggests that consciousness may adhere to quantum mechanics law, a joined research effort by physicist Roger Penrose, who received a Nobel Prize for his work on black holes with Stuart Hameroff, an anaesthesiologist and psychologist; they postulated that consciousness originates, or at least arises from within neuronal microtubules on a quantum level inside neurons as opposed to common view to be the product of neuronal interaction. Their hypothesis is based on various scientific branch research, which also includes quantum information theory, another field of immense interest now and, its exciting work about information science and computing. Neurons, our brain matter, are known to have micro tubules to transport substances and are structured in a fractal pattern, which would, according to the theory, enable quantum processes to occur, performed by qubits based on oscillating dipoles which form superposed resonance rings throughout the lattices of the microtubules. The oscillations are either electric (charge separation), or magnetic (nuclear spin) and can occur in various frequency ranges (e.g.: giga-, mega-, and kilohertz). Fractals are in fact quite common in biological settings, (from plant vessels to our lungs etc.) and they do of course function within physics law too. The theory is not yet univocally accepted, but there is no doubt it eventually will. Mind you, this is only a snippet of how it works. Therefor we leave it to science to carry on, substantiating, disproving or, confirming the evidence.
Information science is however an exciting new science branch. Very specific experimental work is done with the goal to utilize quantum physics. Progress is better than anyone not long ago would have expected and the results, particularly in the field of quantum computing, have already shown that the practical exploitation of quantum states can be achieved. It really is just a matter of time when the applications will be far reaching.
John Wheeler put great emphasis on the importance of information, but the significance of his conclusions has not been realized, at least not by many people. Though it sure benefits the mental/spiritual development of people who are inspired by his work, most miss out due to humans being usually more interested in exploitation than in personal growth, or sustainable progress. Mental/spiritual growth is hardly ever the agenda, and knowledge is hardly used to foster Life. Instead, it is used for the immediate satisfaction of hunger pains, always living in fear of not having or getting enough. It makes for a sinister outlook, since computer technology and information demand are constantly rising and energy is consumed like never before. It raises indeed big questions, like, how to handle energy consumption and the resulting imbalances in the energy equation, thermodynamically speaking. What consequences will it have on our overall existence? One interesting aspect of course is that energy itself is now the focus as the information medium a n d source, as the carrier of information a n d the fuel for the process, indeed, as the entire (information) system. It puts a big question mark on how much energy is actually available, and, if there is a cut-off point. Can energy be saved to keep going? After all, energy is not limitless available. Indeed, science tells us, the equation must be upheld. One way to ensure there is no such problem in the future, (energy availability), is the reduction of an ever-increasing world population, a most logical and feasible solution and it seems, some intelligence is already working towards this goal. Is that morally justified? No, of course not! But when power and lack of morals are companions, anything goes.
Let us recapitulate: In the beginning of our universe matter did not exist, thus, energy was the resource and the information carrier, which is consistent with energy’s dual state property in its quantum reality. BB, the miniscule point in time cannot contain matter, but as condensed energy it can harbor all the required information, which then was released in the immense energy outburst and the hyperinflation event and thus destined to unfold as the intrinsic pattern that would govern evolution, as and being the blue print itself.
Since evolution has progressed now to the point where the door to source (energy) and process is opened, this is an extraordinary milestone that we as the human species have reached. Intelligence has helped us to come that far, but intelligence is a tool, and the best tool is useless and sadly destructive, if you do not know how to handle it. Apart from that, the nature of our world is, consequently, dualistic, since it cannot be different to its source. Everywhere you look, everything you feel and all you know has two sides; there are the positive and negative charges of the inanimate world, the life and death predicament of organic life experience and the good and evil within our own individual cognition that our consciousness constantly must reconcile. Conscience is our natural inherent jurisdiction. Every human knows what is right or wrong, in fact even a child knows it. It is inherent as a measure of what is compatible with Life and what is counterproductive. Morals are just an extension of it and practical for social purpose and community living. It is thus manmade, in contrast to conscience, which is the inherent property. You can dismantle morals, but not conscientiousness. It cannot be dismissed.
Micro-cosmos, macro-cosmos go hand in hand and the principles of the inanimate are as applicable to the spiritual life, as to the organic since only the substrates change, not the principles. However, dealing with subtle and elusive matter in all its glory, is challenging. It means that our world view will have to change quite radically, discarding the model we are accustomed to, which still is very much anchored in the mechanical view of Newtonian physics. Einstein’s relativity may endure the change to a quantum world view, the relational world view, perhaps easier, because it is a bridge between the fixed world view and the quantum uncertainty principle. The reader may be interested in Carlo Rovelli’s book, “Helgoland” in which he claims everything that exists is nothing but quantum mirroring, an effect of reflexion on one another behind which actually nothing can be, since all exists in relation to each other. Or, you can study the Upanishad, the Indian philosophy concerned with the nature of reality, mind and the self, and the relationship between Brahman and Atman (Brahman the universal self, Atman the inner or personal self). And there is also “What is Life”, Schrödinger’s book (1944). All serve the purpose to get the mind running on high. All have in common that science and philosophy are as good to interpret reality. This is a mental leap (of quantum proportion) in itself.
One way to look at how energy deals with information in the biological setting is to look at how information is relayed between an external (environment) and internal space (cell). For us humans it is via sensory perception and signal translation at the entry site, from which the received information is transported to the interpretation areas of the brain. There the message is recognized, analysed, and sent on to the applicable sites by passing through the emotional memory, before it triggers thought and finally forms the reactions. Sensations are waves, which have no or only a tiny mass. They travel according to their momentum through the substrates (e.g., air/ water/cytoplasm) until they reach the processing centres. It is necessary to make the message ‘user-friendly’ and presentable to the executive team (cognition), whose duty is decision making. This ensures the smooth operation of the factory (body) as a whole. Note! The various sensory pathways are well explored and one can easily recognize the underlying patterns on which they operate!
The journey from A to B on specific pathways is the determined physical path. But the messages are handled like tiny parcels that need to undergo packaging change for their safe passage. The waves have a frequency patterns, which, by the encrypted code (vibrations), contains the messages. If you like, the messages swing. Now you may understand why music is such an important part of our life. The physical steps of information, signal adaption, reconstitution and final decoding are matter of transport, but the information lies in the frequency and wave vibration, which ensures it is understood by the brain so it can organise a response. In short, it is the wave’s property that relays the messages. Part or even all areas of the brain are involved, alerting it and simultaneously triggering actions in the areas that modulate the response. Note! Emphasis is given to emotions. They are a fundamental part of the reaction circuitry.It all appears complicated, but it is just complex. After all we are talking molecules, atoms, and particles. They can move amazingly fast, which makes the brain a super-efficient task master. It may therefore be only logical to expect that the mental/spiritual evolution will take off from the current launching pad like a rocket rather than a plane. The development of ‘Homo Sapiens’ was moving along nicely, but was speeding up exponentially over the years, especially over the last 2 hundred years since the industrial era began. Though that is no longer enough to keep up with the technological advances. Brain development and spiritual evolution must follow suit, speedily, or the human species is doomed and will vanish.
Our current state of knowledge already recognizes that quantum physics/mechanics offers the grounding from which we will unveil the many mysteries remaining. It is a work in progress and evolution at its best. And it is indeed our brain which lets us enter this strange world, probably because it is in such a confined space (skull) compared to the cosmos, where we get too easily lost in the vastness of it. How far the mental/spiritual evolution will take us is uncertain, since life as we know it, may find its untimely end.
Sozieterna’s concept of Life is conveyed in simple language, an attempt to show what it practically means to live according to the improved understanding of all reality. It includes the underlying, or overarching truth(s), the inextricably linked and inseparable spiritual aspect of it. Science serves as a foundation and framework, because with science began the breaking down of the power of ignorance. But the language of science is complicated. Many miss out on information that would improve their troubled lives and struggling minds. However, it must be emphasised, no external framework will make a lasting difference to the evolution of mind. The revolution must come from within since it requires a change of attitudes, not just circumstances. Not even science, with all intelligence put to diligent work, can save us from our demise, if we are not guided by insight. Our mind must accept, we are not masters, we are custodians at best.
At present, the human species has reached a crucial point of development. Utilizing intuition and associations as tools is necessary while scientific data is lacking. It compares to the hypothesizing and theorising of science anyway. But remember! Knowledge is not the property of science. Knowledge exists apart from science and can find other avenues to reveal itself. One of the most mysterious is the so called ‘intuitive knowledge’, which many ‘normal’ people may experience one or the other way, including scientists, with some even admitting that their ‘Eureka Moment’ was an intuitive rather than an intellectual “lightning strike”.
Alas, the reader is invited to come along such a discourse, the way intuitive knowledge may take. That path is as real a path as one gained by scientific studies. This one walks you through the book “DNA” (‘Designing New Awareness’), which outlines the journey one person made, in this case, Femina, a Sozieterna, born in ignorance.
Even if people do not accept spiritual life as a reality, nobody can deny it either. Sozieterna emphasises that Spiritual Life is not Afterlife. It is as real a part of our existence as is the inanimate and organic. It just expresses itself so differently that for the most part, we do not consider it as “real”, since we cannot explain it. Its many phenomena remain questionable. They draw us in emotionally, but cause a lot of adverse reactions, from fear to ridicule and everything in between. The common ones like clairvoyance, spiritual healers, and psychics, even the so called “Eureka Moment” of sudden intuitive insight, they baffle us and we easily dismiss them. Unfortunately, a lot is due to too many false claims, distracting from the genuine item. Then there are the personal encounters with spirits, dead relatives, usually loved ones and, the “out of body” or, near death experiences. Science tries to find reasonable explanations for or against it, but so far, all lacks hard evidence, thus, uncertainty remains.
Uncertainty but is the name of the game, after all, quantum physics is known for the famous ‘Uncertainty Principle’, introduced by Werner Heisenberg in the 1920’s. It states that ‘the position and the momentum of an object (particle) cannot both be known exactly, due to the wave-particle duality at subatomic level.’ It has no apparent impact or significance for the observable world we know, but it sure has for the atomic and subatomic ‘world of particles’ from which all is made of. It means, what we see is not what there is. It also ascertains that only by observation becomes the state of an object ‘known’, (famously described with “Schrodinger’s Cat” analogy) and, that the observer is an integral part of it.
A relevant example of uncertainty and easier to understand is the dilemma of the fata morgana. We all know it is a visual appearance of something that does not exist. Well, that is of course not correct, because the apparition shows something real, it just is not at the place you see it. Physics says it is an optical illusion, and so it is. But that is the point, what you see exists, it just is not real. What we experience and draw conclusions from, is not all that is. Missing plenty of details despite believing we see the full picture means we cannot comprehend the truth. Perceiving the world around us as to what our sensorium transmits, we pick up a version of reality, and filter it, for the purpose of survival. Our brain learns to deal with this partial reality because it is important for us, but only for us. Consider what the world of other creatures looks like, who can hear better than us, see ultra violet rays, listen to echo location to navigate flight and find food, or simply use touch and, feel vibrations in order to safe guard survival. Our world is ruled by our perception of it, but it should be a thing of the past to deny the wide spectrum reality that exists. It also means apparitions, spirits, holy or not, dead loved ones, angels or whatever, may better not be so quickly regarded as utter nonsense. They may exist in form of a fata morgana, be real somewhere else, where most of us have no access to. Some people without doubt have extraordinary perceptions. Some may be able to sense subtle realities and accept them, while others may have them but feel utterly confused unable to deal with it. Naturally, to believe everything what people claim is ill advised. Too many charlatans prey on the naïve.
Another interesting phenomenon are hallucinations which some people experience. Well, not all these people are necessarily insane. In fact, one must wonder since it has become evident, that auditory hallucinations observed in the brain as they occur, are a real event. The auditory centre in the brain lightens up in the scans. But scans cannot differentiate between misfiring neurons or a true perception from an external source. That nobody but the affected person perceives them is irrelevant. Such person may have other perceptual abilities than the rest. A disarray of neurons of course may indeed be the culprit but for now, nobody can say with confidence what the actual cause is. In psychiatry the conclusions are often too quickly made in favour of mental illness, using a set of criteria as a diagnostic tool, which then determines treatment. Though certainly of value, it is not necessarily appropriate or applicable in all presentations. But it also is not reasonable to ignore the risk that some hallucinations harbor, for the sake of such patients and the community at large. No doubt, hallucinations have meaning and are to be understood in context of that person. The point still is, the source of hallucinations is unknown. The best one can say is, they are a mixed bag of possibilities.
Clairvoyants fall into this mixed bag too, because they too experience hallucinations. They generally cannot explain themselves why it happens to them, they only accept it does and how it works for them. Some see things, some may feel impressions, others intuitively know things, some may gaze the aura of a client and find the clues in it, linking it to what the client discloses to them. In the end, the how does not even matter, that it happens is perplexing enough.
Mind you, there are also people with exceptional cognitive functioning, like the ones who can recall every moment of their life. It is known, that our brain has more capacity to gather and store information than we are aware of, because we only use what is important for us. Our senses do not filter out information, the brain (executive) does. They must work together cooperatively for practical purposes. The brain however stores all data collected from the environment and, what is stored is retrievable, but we only use and process little of it. Though the content of our memory bank serves as a reference and back-up for our brain’s major purpose that is survival, it far exceeds what we need on a day-to-day basis. Photographic memory falls into this category too. Some people can store memory of what they see in pictures, for example whole book pages, which are then at a person’s disposal. (Very handy for exam purposes!). However! It would be impossible for humans to function, if they had to deal with the amount of information the brain routinely collects and stores. It would literally be information overload leading to system break downs, just like the fuses blow in electric circuits. If you talk to people with “impeccable” personal memory over their lives, it is not something they find easy to live with either. Many would prefer not to have this “gift”. Just imagine what it means to recall every traumatic and sad event of your life. Post-traumatic stress disorder is just the iceberg of it. And though photographic memory may propel a person’s academic success, as other specific cognitive talents may, the cost on a personal level may not be as desirable as you may think. Besides! To tap into the brain’s (big) memory bank is not that desirable for other reasons either. In fact, we should be rather glad, nobody knows how to do it. But sure is, spy agencies and dictators want to. Research into this and similar areas, like telepathy, was done and, probably, this and other mind exploitation research may be, or is ongoing, just behind closed doors. It has never been more important than it is now that the integrity of one’s body and control over it stays with the individual, because with technology advancing, so are the tools capable to mine an individual’s mind and history.
There is another interesting aspect of spiritual life to ponder about. Buddhists use prayer wheels and flags to send messages into the universe. It sounds ludicrous, but it may have the principle right. A thought has content, which forms an encrypted pattern on or in the wave as its energy travels along. In the given example, words, symbols of thought, are printed on the prayer flag or wheels and these are moved by wind or people turning the wheels. Waves of energy are thus sent into the air which could have the pattern of the printed words incorporated into the waves flying off. Nobody has researched if that is even a possibility, but from the point of execution how it may be possible it should not be just dismissed as utter nonsense. After all, we are talking molecules, atoms, particles that put a stamp on or into the wave. Look at how we hear and understand a spoken word. If the air would not carry the sound wave of the word in form of a pattern to our ears and then into our brains, thoughts would not be heard. Very clearly, since waves carry information in codes and/or patterns, – why should it be unreasonable to make sense of prayer flags? Or, why for example should clairvoyants not be able to pick up waves from stored memory and thought from a person? Reading the routinely encrypted information according to their special skills, linking it with the person’s situation, they may very well be capable of interpreting passed events and draw conclusions regarding the future of that person, who asks specific questions about his/her life? Encryption, as discussed in the article, is naturally not for the purpose of keeping secrets, it is just the way to convert wave pattern for the sake of transmission of information from and within varied systems. Therefore, information is accessible, from any brain, particularly from an ignorant individual, who wants to know something about self and prospects, but having no access to it by own means, thus seeking help from someone, who can. However! Thought waves are not scriptures and not written in stone. Neither is the future, meaning, what is predicted, does not necessarily have to happen. Things change, people change and since waves are in flux interferences can happen just by chance and any time. Thus, future is flexible. Or you may say, future is predictable, but still uncertain.
Of course, all these suggestions are to be taken as that. Mind you, what is roughly pointed out here in regards to sensory perception is confirmed by clear evidence in various literature, which the reader may access elsewhere at his leisure.
Another interesting feature of quantum mechanics must be highlighted too since it correlates so well with spiritual life’s mysteries. It concerns the subject of entanglement. Famously, Albert Einstein did not like what quantum physics suggested, stating that “God does not play dice with the universe”. He found some things also quite “spooky”. What he meant of course was, uncertainty principles are not the exact and measurable science he favoured and, “spooky” particles behaved as if they received information over far distances that fast, considered impossible, since they would exceed the speed of light. He referred to what has become known as entanglement, a phenomenon where a pair of particles, even if far away from each other, behave exactly the way as if they were intrinsically connected, complementing each other’s action simultaneously. It also relates to Carl Gustav Jung’s assumption of the existence of a “Collective Consciousness” and, to the phenomenon that was observed in monkeys living on different islands suddenly, or at least so it seemed, displaying the same novel behaviours that added to their beneficial skill repertoire. More metaphysically, ghosts are spooky too, because they may pop up in more than one places in an instant and frighten the hell out of the unexpecting, (tales of the haunted castles). Entangled images? Shared mental and spiritual cosmic field? Or holographic picture show? Nobody knows, yet that is.
Quantum physics is a “magical world”, literally speaking. There is matter and anti-matter. There are particles, the neutrinos, also called the ghost particle that can pervade anything without leaving a noticeable mark or a disturbance, like a ghost going through closed doors and solid walls. Waves are particles and the other way round and they can be in more than one place at the same time. What is observed is not what else is, or, only what you observe makes it real. Information is passed over distances instantly and, nothing is to be taken for certain, – that is what we understand of the spirit worlds too, the realms that mediums claim to see or at least can tap into, even conversing with souls and spirits when they are in trance. But make no mistake! This is only part not all of what mental/spiritual life is. And! There should be no misunderstanding the prospect of hell to exist too. Consider what psychological pain is, or what a tormented mind means and you get the picture. The mental/spiritual world is not and cannot be free of suffering. In fact, the categories of Life differ only in formal expression, meaning, hell is as good here as there.
String theory suggests that many universes coexist, because all depends on the vibration of the strings that form unique worlds. They are considered part of our existence, though we would not know, because the frequency of our world’s base vibration is different to the others. But some people may have miniscule parts of their neuronal system that can perceive other worlds, at least interact, or communicate with one or the other by means of paranormal pathways. Why would anyone believe in an ‘Afterlife’ or ‘Spirit World’, if there were no reports of such experiences throughout the history of man despite all attempts to eliminate them, or silencing the people reporting, often in most painful ways?
Be it as it may, let us talk about intelligence, which is an integral part of existence from the beginning, part of the evolutionary progress and mental/spiritual development. If we humans as a species lived long enough, we would reach pinnacles we at present cannot yet fathom. This is inevitable since it is part of Life, the determinant in the evolution of Life itself, which begins as the omnipotent undifferentiated pool of energy and ends at the omnipotent differentiated expression of energy. Existence oscillates between the 2 points, the omnipotent BB and the fully differentiated climax. For the sake of distinction, one is the point of possibilities, the other the climax of manifestation. In both points, beginning and end have no longer significance being qualitative the same but expressed in a different form. The process of evolution (differentiation) is a wave cycle, or the ‘Breath of Life’ if you like Theo philosophical comparison. In any case, it is an amazing journey, never dull, not always bliss and often truly painful. But beginning and end point transcend the meaning of Life and Death. Does Life end? No! Death marks the end of a phase, and since energy does not die, it just changes form through different phases, manifesting itself in a different form, right down (or up) to become the observer, reflecting upon itself. Superposition only marks the end of dualism, in which everything is observed as one or the other. But when particle and wave are in superposition, unification has occurred. This state is neither absolute nor relative, or both, absolute and relative. It is energy in the state of potential, “life in situ”. It stands in contrast to energy in action, or “life in motion” but in superposition they exist as one, layered one above the other, or being one and the other. It means ultimate awareness of existence and what the world looks like in the ultimate state of realization. According to quantum physics, we are the observer, meaning, we observe time and space being created and everything that follows within it and thereafter, including ourselves. That sounds like a paradox, but no, it just is the quantum world in which Life cycles take shape. However! This should not be confused with the state of pure energy which is utter potential, not even thought exists and Life is unrealized. It is the prelude and contains the above that is energy in phase l. A new cycle will eventuate, if, and when the balance, the harmony, the symmetry is broken. It is the instant of thought that like a pebble ripples the pool, philosophically speaking, and as found in religious texts. (“First came thought”, quote).
All matter, every creature, you, and me, is as E=mc2 summarises, a bundle of energy in action that moves through space and time. Life is. And if you are a religious person you may like to express it as ‘God is’, with all its “good and bad”, the dipole of our dualistic world with positive and negative charges. It is also the nature of us and our human soul. But ultimately, we are energy, which has not been recognized in all its form and glory.
Humans currently behave as if they were omnipotent, but they are not, not yet at least. In the face of the still looming and nebulous mysteries, they cannot feel almighty, only humbled. And it does not help to create AI (artificial intelligence) which is a flawed attempt of imitating omnipotence.
It is however certain that any society reaching the differentiated climax point cannot be other than a peaceful one, one that nurtures, not destroys, one that can understand how to maintain balance between opposing forces within the physical laws of nature and, the good and evil, which man puts into the construct of God and Devil as entities. But they are nothing more than inherent opposing forces within, causing internal struggles as every single person can testify.
Fortunately, there is a safety net for Life itself and for us imperfect beings, meaning, paradise can be created and found anytime and anywhere. If the balance can be upheld between the opposing forces that is. Of course, it requires effort to stay in balance, to maintain homeostasis, to live in peace. Sadly, neither is there great success in the West with all its science, nor in the East amongst Hindus and Buddhists, despite them having quite a different approach to truth. The reasons for it are simple, because, when people only follow a doctrine without comprehension, the project is doomed. They must understand the basics first before they can gain insight to turn from follower to participant. That is the quantum leap the mental/spiritual evolution requires. Obedience is not enough. Waiting for science may not be enough either. Time wise that is, since we as the human species are at the point of annihilation, or better, we self-destruct due to our own faulty decisions and our own choices. However! Though our species may not endure in its entirety, every individual can reach the personal climax. But it requires an open mind, the willingness to listen to reason. It does not matter to which theological, philosophical ideology or school one ascribes to, if the true principles of Life are understood. And you are on your way to reach your personal best while you are struggling with all the obstacles in your way by adhering to the principles of nurturing, loving, caring! Life is beautiful, do not make it hell!
Sozieterna finds it practical to think of existence as Life fluctuating within the PH – Range, a scale known in physics (and by gardeners!) to measure how acidic or basic an object is. The range has enough scope for life to carry on. But crossing the lines, tipping over to one or the other side, losing the balance so to speak, is a big NO. One way or the other, you cannot and you must not since it is incompatible with life as we know it. It does however not mean that Life ends altogether. It will just build something new according to the new conditions. Besides, nature regulates itself, always in the direction of achieving the right balance once again, within which life can be established and endure, until the next correction is warranted. Sadly, speaking about our planet Earth, it may not reach the same versatility, but stability is found in arid places even more. And who says another world cannot be beautiful too?
In conclusion, Life is, regardless if it is in its inorganic, organic or spiritual form and regardless if humans are not a constructive contribution, nor being able to realize the meaning of it. But not doing the best with their life is a tragedy, treating it with contempt is however unforgivable. Despite this statement’s connection to spiritual matters, it is not within the core topic of this article and therefore best left to explore or discuss it elsewhere or at another time. The article offers enough food for thought as it is, defining Life very differently to the commonly accepted version. The reader may or may not agree or like it, but to seek approval is not the point, nor is it to persuade anyone to accept the concept as laid out. It is however something that when considered honestly, makes more sense than what is generally taught, with far reaching implications too. Make no mistake, it may disgruntle part of the establishment that cannot let go of vested interests. But that too is Life.

About…..2022 Reflections
Old year gone, new year in. Is anyone out there who liked 2022? Yes, there are a few. The already super rich got even richer and the goals, some of them pursue, seem to be going well. But the rest of the people are paying the prize, either with their health, their lives, the loss of loved ones, their businesses and/ or their mental health, or future.
Can there be anyone blamed for such a devastating year, which, by the way, is only one of three marked by devastation? From natural disasters to man made destruction, 2022 wraps it all up into one of the biggest painful years in human history recorded.
But it would be too easy to put the blame on one or a few people, though of course, we know them and they are guilty as hell. The rich, the powerful, the corrupt, the evil-minded souls among us, they sure used all tools available to achieve their goals, which is domination over others. And they sure abused the innocent, manipulated the weak and ignorant and, indeed, the already brainwashed poorly educated. But what is with the rest of the intelligent and knowledgeable? Sadly, too many caved in under the pressure, the threads, exerted on us all, and, due to their weakness of character and lack of mental resilience, they were and still are consumed by anxiety and fear. But let us face it, laziness, and pretend concern for their loved ones, were used too, to rationalize their submission. The bitter truth is that nobody of a sound mind could mistake true love, for what or whomever, for the easy way out of an indeed challenging situation. Love in fact brings all together, particularly in times of great need. It unites to stand strong against wilful suppression by tyrants, who want to abolish freedom and humanity.
What it boils down to is that humans are herd animals. They depend on a leader, for good or worse. History shows us humans never learn because they prefer to let leaders act on their behalf and decide, what is the way to go. This is most likely due to poor average intelligence and reluctance to take responsibility for their own actions, which requires physical and mental strength most do not have. If they had it, too many would actually claim leadership themselves. Therein lies the lust for power being personalized in the role of a leader. But knowing their limitations, humans find solace within the herd, follow the leader and, take it for granted that his decisions are for the best.
To be fair, this is not all there is to say about the human condition. Besides! Physical and mental evolution has brought changes, which even the most powerful leaders cannot control. Humans are no longer mentally at the same level than they were, when they started to walk upright and use tools. Though it still applies that their strength lies in numbers, leaders are no longer of the same necessity than they once were. In fact, many humans have learned to do better without them. But, in modern societies, one cannot do everything and all as a sole trader. The better option is to delegate duties for the common good, thus empowering individuals, which spells troubles since power is now up for grabs. However, some things still stand firm: Safety and security. They rank high on the agenda, as protection against enemies, and as much for individual survival itself. Therefore, to hold communities and societies together, moral concepts became the glue to bind them. Unfortunately, there is the problem of the pervasive thread of good and evil that is part of our existence since we live in a dipolar world.
Throughout the recent horror years, the mentioning of a spiritual war, the war between good and evil, has become quite common. A friend said to me, morals, or indeed, good and evil are only a fabric of the human mind. Of course, so it is when looking at the issue as a detail of existence, in this case humans. But it is not when you look at it in the overarching universal scheme of cosmic proportion. Good and evil are part of existence itself and you need not to be a religious person who believes in God and Devil. The creation of our world as we know it, is based on electro-magnetic forces, hence it is a bi-polar world and, life can only exist within a small range midway between their interactions. If life strays to one or the other side too much, it cannot be sustained, nor prosper. What this means should be clear: Good and Evil are forces that work together but will always have to struggle to coexist. We know how hard it is to keep peace, not just externally but internally too. Every human fights his own demons and we all long for peace.
So let us conclude! If there is anything good coming out of the horrible year(s), is at least the revelation that good and evil coexist for the purpose of creation, and neither can be defeated, or creation will be thwarted. Never the less, evil has to be put into its place, and always watched to prevent it from turning destructive. We already see what it does to our small human world. Mind you! The cosmos can do without us, but to have come in our evolution so far as we have, it is a shame to throw it all away before we truly can reach our destination, which sure is not AI (artificial intelligence). What really is needed now more than ever, is a meaningful, loving and caring society, using intelligence to foster all life, not just some lives, as the ill guided “elites and globalists” want. I have no wish to pardon them for what they do. But equally have I no wish to excuse the many others either, particularly the ones who are capable of understanding the emergency we all face as far as the future of us and life of this planet goes. They are as guilty. We all are in fact, for the warning was there for a long time and we did nothing about it.
The reflection on the past year is not meant to go into the specific problems we are confronted with, too many they are, nor the pain that has come with it, too deep it goes. But hopefully 2022 was the turning point and has set the direction for 2023. Which way that will be, only time will tell. Let us hope for the best and join together to restore balance and make this world truly a place where all can live in harmony, to the benefit of all creatures, big and small.

About…Life and the human species (part 2/3)
Organic life is basically made of four elements: Carbon, hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen. 99% of organic molecules consist of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. Carbon is unique as it binds easily with any of the above, with itself and, many others, such as sulphur, phosphorus, silicones and halogens. While most organic compounds contain carbon and hydrogen, some have sulphur, nitrogen, phosphorus and oxygen. But all living things contain carbon! Carbon is therefore classified as an organic element and molecules containing carbon are with some exception (e.g., salts) seen as organic molecules. They also contain hydrogen, but water itself, not containing a carbon element, is classified as inorganic. Despite water being essential to organic life, it does not get the badge of honour. Anyway! These basic elements form compounds, such as carbohydrates, proteins, nucleic acid and lipids, which are found in all living organisms. They truly are the special ingredients, which produced the first “mother entity” of organic life. But how come that these elements assemble, how do they form the compounds?
Well, it is determined by the same processes as in the inanimate life and physics tells you.
To highlight the interlinkage of the principles involved, remember, energy in the state of potential is going nowhere. To induce movement there has to be an incentive and a directive as discussed before. The simplest directive is a gradient along which movement occurs. It is achieved by disparity, either down a hill, or between pools of varied loading, temperature, or two poles with opposite charges, etc. Movement occurs basically to equal out differences, meaning, it follows a given direction. Hence, when the BB burst into the scene, the paths and directives for all aspects of evolution came with it. Elemental forces, particular the electro-magnetic force and all the elementary particles, with their spin and charges, they are literally “life enforcers”, laying the foundation and locking in the blueprint like stencilling the concrete floor. Atoms, molecules, compounds assemble according to forces, in search to overcome disparity, equal out differences or just filling in to complete empty and open spaces, thus moving along charges according to affinity or disparity and tension between them. It ensures the plan is followed with little effort, rather like a routine, using physics and chemistry as the pathway, which is but flexible should it be required to adjust and modify and allow for new developments. What follows is a clear, well-trodden path consisting of repetitive elements that constantly secure the foundations. Thus, every cell has a gradient of some kind, be it chemical or electrical. Our heart would not beat without it and neither would any chemical reaction take place if it was not for that principle. It makes no difference if these reactions are of inorganic nature, or a biological function. The foundations are the same for both. It gets only more diverse and sophisticated as the life forms advance in complexity. But this is a specialised field of chemistry/biochemistry and of course physics, and though very interesting, it is impossible to address details here. The reader is advised to read specific literature about the processes elsewhere at his own leisure.
However, let us glimpse! After the BB, the cauldron of particles and forces is boiling. It is chaos at its best, but within the chaos patterns develop. Highly charged, smashing into and annihilating each other, particles are also fusing to the point of nucleation. Chaos is filled with opportunity and we find the various stages of atoms and molecules forming, which build denser collection here and there with some becoming hotspot nebulas from which stars and, galaxies are born. Billions of years after BB, our Earth appears out of the solar nebular by accretion, with a nucleus of iron, generating its own electro-magnetic field. Mind you, iron is also at the core of our life. As an element in our blood, it facilitates our oxygen consumption. Without iron, we would not breathe. Incidence? I think not! The iron core of Earth is essential to begin with since Earth’s magnetic field allows an atmosphere to form, without which organic life as we know it, would not exist. Therefore, iron is to us humans as elemental as it is to Earth as a planet.Now, Earth originally a ball of gas and molten matter, spinning much faster around its axis than it does nowadays, had to slow down and cool down in order to create favourable environmental conditions for life to develop. In fact, it took a collision with a sister planet to put Earth on the path of its development. Albeit slow, with quite a few attempts to foster life, simple organisms were coming and going. Mind you, Earth was (and still is) in a phase transition. It means, the prevailing environment determines what chemical reactions can occur, which, down the track, allow suitable life forms to develop. Their life is sustained as long as the conditions are not altered dramatically.
By the way, chemical reactions are nothing but interactions between atoms, as to what effect and how varied, that is for Life itself to find out. Any interaction, please note, is a form of communication. You may call it the language of the inanimate, or for example, the language atoms speak. Charges and forces are words, the binding and bonding of elements are the sentences that link the words together, which conveys the information. It means, the actual reaction is also the transmission of the information and the resulting product is the answer on display, after the reactions took place. Basically, instructions are effectively delivered in wordless communication. J. Wheeler sure is right: These physical, chemical processes are information itself and the blueprint of Life. Cells too convey messages, by signalling the next-door cells. This principle is found in all the presentations of cell life. Just like the elementary particles and forces incorporate their instructions as they manifest, all follow the same rules, using the same pathway. As inanimate life does, so does organic life, and so do we. Our cells talk to each other, we need to talk to each other as all creatures do. The modus looks different, but the concept and the effect are the same. Waves are the messengers and the path, travelling over the distances, minute as from cell to cell, or as lengthy as between people.
Another important ingredient of organic life is water, though it does not have to be in the fluid phase to generate Life. In compounds, Hydrogen and Oxygen were always present, even in Earth’s early life. Most likely both were released by volcanic eruptions where clouds of steam, accompanying the sulphuric acid clouds and ashes, carried them after they were unlocked from magma and rocks that held them in as separate elements as Earth was cooling down. One can safely conclude that these two elements, H and O, finally got the chance to bond to our H2O due to volcanic activities. But present they were all along, even when our planet was still in its infancy. They are present everywhere else in the universe, hydrogen being in fact the most and oxygen the 3rd most common element.
Liquid water formed very early on Earth, though not necessarily always flowing in oceans and also being even vaporised by massive meteors still bombarding Earth at that time. Our planet also had very early an atmosphere, just not the one we have the pleasure to have now. It sure did not contain enough oxygen for life to prosper as we know it. But organic life was there too, with Earth only about 3,8 billion years old, like the methane producing microbes, which still can be found living on the ocean floor and volcanic grounds. Oxygen was not freely available then, only later, Earth being about 2,7billion years old. That’s when another micro-organism, the cyanobacterium, appeared and prospered in abundance. It supplied more O2 in its waste than was consumed by Earth’s environment, thus enriching the atmosphere with it.Not only hydrogen, also ice is abundant, in our solar system and in space. You find it as close to the sun and as far away beyond in space, where it is present as interstellar ice, consisting of grains of ice that contain low boiling point chemical elements and compounds, like nitrogen, water, carbon dioxide, ammonia, hydrogen, methane and sulphur dioxide. These are part of our planet’s crust too. As ice grains they are also in our atmosphere and they are plentiful in molecular clouds where new stars are formed. Recently scientists found the precursors of amino acids and nucleotides there too, essential for organic compounds like proteins. Derived from the grain content by processes like hydrogenation, oxygenation and hydroxylation, it emphasises the point of how irrational it is to treat earth and universe as different things. But given the circumstances, Gaia is rather reasonable than a phantasy, wouldn’t you agree?
Now, ice as we know is the solid phase of water. When water cools down to 0 degree under normal atmospheric pressure, applicable to most of the water and ice forming processes on earth, the molecular arrangements of water changes during phase transition. Most of earth’s ice comes in hexagonal crystalline structure. If it contains impurities, it may be milky white, (snow). Ice is considered a mineral, a crystalline inorganic solid. Interestingly, if you prevent the molecules to arrange themselves into these highly ordered structures, water does not freeze but assumes the state of mesophase, regardless how low the temperature drops! The mesophase applies actually to all fluids, meaning crystals become liquid crystals, worth the mentioning due to the biological implications, which are only just now explored in depth and in context of three-dimensional organisation of living matter and its inner dynamic. (See research of structures and functions of fibrils in skins, muscle, lamellar bone, even DNA application; think fish scales and plywood too, just to give you an idea of the far-reaching implications.The point to stress is that the phases are of utter importance, – for everything in the universe. And it is pure physics which builds and dictates development, step by step, not ever eradicating the bases it builds upon. Since also intelligence has to evolve, there is initially no capability to comprehend the processes involved. Only when intelligence itself expands far enough can the mind begin to unravel entanglements and hidden truths, to make them increasingly more transparent, so the mind can understand what is going on.
Earth formed a crust from the fluid lava as it was cooling down. Appropriate to phase transition it provided the reorganization of the elements, which were first mixed up in gas and then lava. Following the way of phase dynamics, solidification occurs by crystallisation, which provides the scaffolding and structuring within fluids (or solutions/precipitate). What was gas becomes fluid, becomes solid matter, appearing in form of crystals, rocks and then, earth, – literally building the ground for organic life to thrive on. Thermodynamic processes under earth’s electromagnetic field conditions, water and atmosphere contribute to the environment in which Life finds its expression in form of organic life, but the beginning of it is not much different to the nesting (or nucleation) in the boiling and cooling phases of plasma that lead to gases and the seeding of the molecular clouds.
Phase dynamics can be observed when water starts boiling, or cools down. Distinct surface patterns appear which then extend into a field of bubbles, or an ice field respectively, signifying the phase transitions. You literally observe the transformation of water, either as it starts to boil or builds up ice. From the surface pattern to distinct islets that spread out all over the surface, it is as easy as it is wonderful to watch, particularly in nature, when ponds and lakes freeze over in winter time. The same happens when lava cools down.
Any nucleating process occurs as a reaction between the (chemical) elements. There must also be a sufficient force to bring the particles/elements together (e.g. gravity, electric charges, energy of any kind), otherwise they would remain in ‘suspension’. When under the right conditions the particles, atoms, or molecules clump together, it marks the onset of nucleation, the “nesting”. Nucleation is thus the first step in every phase transition; indeed, it is the first step in the formation of structure and matter and, in fact, can be seen as an act of self-assembly, or self-organisation too. By definition, nucleation is simply the time that is necessary for an observer to wait before he actually can see the new phase or the new structure appearing.
It is also important to understand self-assembly or self-organisation, because all pre-existing components in a disordered system, be it the plasma soup after the BB or in the fluid solutions of our discussion here, all build organised structures, all adhere to patterns that are due to their own interaction amongst their own kind without any external direction and apart from the influence forced upon them by their environmental condition. (Not to be confused with the environmental conditions that fuel the process, influence and shape the outcome). If the components are molecules, the process is called molecular self-assembly.
The significance of that said is that it is the inherent property of energy, the potential energy that is contained in, as David Bohm sees it, implicate order, or, the quantum potential of the unbroken wholeness of the universe, or, if you like, the BB potential and, of matter, particle and all thereafter. For Sozieternas it is a concept of Life’s evolution. Self-assembly, self-organisation are steppingstones for energy to express itself, tangibly and visibly, you may call manifestation.
If nucleation happens in a static environment, the ordering will aim for an equilibrium. In a dynamic environment it follows the process of self-organisation. Simply said, everything ‘floating’ around in a disordered system seeks company, preferably their own or where it has affinity to, which, in fact, is reflected in social settings too, as “same of the same are good company”. Clumping together, or building social groups, everything, and everyone feels most comfortable amongst their own kind.In nature, nucleation (self-assembly) means nanostructure (minute components) builds itself. In organic life, compounds grow and organise themselves by way of dimensional outreach and spatial arrangements. Environmental dynamics determine the formation the structures will have, how they function and what purpose they have or can be used for.
Nucleation may be a slow process, depending on the dynamics involved, and is usually not visible or observable, in contrast to phase transition and self-assembly. Water makes the phase process easy to grasp, since you can observe the ice patches and the spread to a seamless ice sheet. Steam, or Ice, the final outcome, is the definite thermodynamic phase. Impurities, interferences and disturbances in the system influence the rate of nucleation, the time a phase transition lasts and, what self-assembly, (or disintegration as in steam), will be like. But let us skip over these details as interesting as they may be.
The first appearance of nucleation occurs randomly in whatever medium or volume, and it fluctuates too. The islets that form are a primary process, but they may also serve secondary processes, some of which we humans can enjoy as pretty things, like gems and jewels. The interesting point is that nucleation has no steady rules, neither where it will occur nor when, nor that it will remain and not disintegrate again. In other words, it will only progress to the next step if the conditions acting upon allow it.
Bohm’s “Potential Quantum Field” hypothesis talks about waves of inert energy appearing as random particles at interference junction points. If there is clustering, it may well be called nucleation at the most original level. The later crystallisation process from liquid to solid reflects the same, it just is easier to observe than quantum field fluctuations. It means, when we can see the product of a completed phase transition like we see the ice or the precious stone, we no longer struggle to accept the process and the product as real, though both are similar and in principle the same. We humans just need to see to believe.
Unobservable nucleation applies to the biological setting too, particularly concerning us when it comes to diseases like Alzheimer’s or cancer. Their plaques and metastasis we do not see in the initial stages where they ‘nucleate’, only later we do, when the illness shows the tell-tale cluster or metastatic spread.
Any phase or nucleation process needs energy, or a momentum to get the process rolling. It starts from a state of so-called meta-stability. The reader may delve into the laws of thermodynamics elsewhere, which can explain the above said, but let us just stick here to meta-stability and visualize it as a ball precariously sitting on a pointy top from where it is dislodged easily. It may be enough to pop down a stair or two, or, run down a hill, in any case, it would generate free energy in the process.To recapitulate: Energy is the point to begin with as the pool of potential (A). In its quantum form, energy has no mass and moves as a wave. In its manifestation as a solid it is E=mc2, (B). The journey from A to B starts with assembly by nucleation, when particles and elementary forces appear, which exist in wave/particle form and interference patterns. Physics is the scaffolding; the structure crude matter uses to organise itself. Eventually the assembly becomes visible as its complexity grows. All this is only made possible by energy’s duality as particle and wave form, and as source and fuel functioning. As the interaction between particles and forces matter grows, so do simple reactions, growing into ever more sophisticated functions –, hello (bio-) chemistry, hello organic life and all the rest that follows.
The core ingredients of Earth consist of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, silicon, sulphur and iron. These elements build up earth’s crust and are part of all “living” things by nature. By now, though present for a long time, just not as obvious, physics got a partner in chemistry. Both have and create their own set of rules as they move along their way. To speed up chemical reactions, nature uses compounds called catalysts. They are involved in all complex reactions. When it comes to organic life and organic functions, they are called enzymes. However! They are made of nothing else but simple elements, only later on do these facilitators become more elaborate compounds themselves. They essentially help the processes and they are never consumed by the process itself. That we can breathe, eat and burn food for our energy supply, our metabolism, indeed every cell activity, relies on catalyst/enzyme activity. It is mindboggling how simple everything starts and how elaborate it gets. On the subject of chemical processes, catalysts and the role of enzymes, please read the specific literature. It truly is fascinating but for this article we can only seek out stepping stones to shorten the otherwise convoluted path (from inorganic to organic life).
The Miller-Urey experiment 1952 highlights such a stepping stone. It must be mentioned here, since it was the first experiment to prove that organic compounds like amino acids, the building blocks of organic life forms, can be synthesized from inorganic compounds. In laboratory condition that replicated Earth’s at the time conducive to allow organic life development, simple gases were exposed to heat, cooling and, electrical discharges simultaneously, replicating nature with its lightening and radiation, and indeed organic compounds formed.
Organic compounds of course are only part of the story. The other is ‘free’ energy. One hypothesis on the origin of life therefore emphasises the “metabolism first” approach, where catalysts play the major role. Naturally, it has its merits since metabolism is the ‘fuel supply’ all system and organisms depend on.
The earliest evidence of life on earth goes back to 3,7 GY (Giga, or billion years). It may have been present earlier. Science recently discovered very ancient life forms still exist deep down in earth’s layers. Not relying on oxygen to sustain life they could have evolved way beyond the Eoarchean Era, or the Hadian to which the fossils in the geyserite, (opaline silica) of the Pilbara Craton in WA, (Australia), and fossilized microorganisms in hydrothermal-vent precipitates in Quebec rocks, (Canada), belong to. However! Life as we know it, may have appeared with the ocean formation, 3,8 billion years ago; but the jury is still out there, waiting for more evidence.That life evolved on Earth is more than reasonable than not since all the ingredients were readily available. It was only a matter of the right conditions to kick start the process that prompted the ‘seeds’ into germination for organic life to emerge. The first important step, the essential key, is assembly. With the compounds that Earth had on offer, the building of macro molecules went ahead, from single molecules to polymers, the molecular units, were strung together repetitively into chains. As they grow linearly and move spatially, they not only develop different structures but also different shapes, functions and, abilities. Remember, it is like one step at the time to build a chain, using repeatedly same units, which can then morph dimensionally from chain into body.
Organic life is shaped by the specific chemistry of carbon and water. It builds up from basically 4 polymer compounds: Lipids (cell membranes), carbohydrates (sugars, cellulose), amino acids (proteins) and, nucleic acids (RNA, DNA).The principle of linear development is easy to follow, going from particle (e.g., quark), to atom, molecule and, polymer, which, with the appearance of RNA, marks the starting point for organic life development. Our organic world is an RNA world! Others may have pre-existed, but disappeared when conditions changed. For easy understanding, consider our spine or backbone. Similar to a polymer, built of same sort segments one after the other, it resembles a chain. Or look at embryonic development, from fertilized ova to blastula to gastrula and its three germ layers from which the whole body derives. Everywhere you look there is repetition all over again and again, the materials used, and how it is used and linked together. It shows how life expands and develops, with a few ingredients and in repetitive pattern, but in numerous and astounding combinations. There is indeed nothing ever new under the sun though the outcome is mindboggling! The combinations, the fitting and joining and, how the elements and basic ingredients work together, all demonstrate the simplicity of the design and the basic rules. In a way one may consider it to be a fractal (see later on). To get lost in the multitude of shapes and forms of life unfolding is not surprising, because its variety is distractive. And it is still evolving, even as we speak.
Polymers do not only give rise to organic compounds. Small molecules (monomers) of any element can join up simply by covalent chemical bonds leading to products of unique physical forms, properties and qualities. Many of them are perfect for industrial use due to toughness, viscosity, elasticity and with products ranging from the fluid to the amorphous, the semicrystalline and crystalline, or any other form you can think of. And all is and has Life!
Several branches of science came to the same conclusion: Everything has the ability to self-organize, to carry out self-assembly, which essentially means, bringing structure to chaos. In fact, the consensus is that chaos cannot support the visible world and certainly not organic life. Only by loss of entropy (chaos) can matter take shape. Structures are a state of order, like crystals, which have their atoms very neatly arranged. Self-assembly means just that, within chaos freely moving, disorganised elements tend to seek order, facilitated by forces and free available energies that prevail in high entropic phases, especially present at high temperatures. Cooling down changes the conditions allowing for other developments. It highlights the fact that while environmental conditions change, the principles of change do not, – they are the pervasive constant within the system.
John Conway, Stanislav Ulam, John Newman and, Hermann Haken, scientists, (including mathematicians), should be mentioned here since they contributed to the understanding of how self-organisation and, self-replication, the other essential criteria in the definition of organic life, can arise within and from “lifeless matter”.John Conway, an English mathematician, developed a computer game called “Game of Life” (1970). With this game he proved that anything that can be computed algorithmically can also be computed within real life. Though a simulated “life game”, it is applicable to real life cells, showing exemplary the emergence of self-organisation. Complex patterns emerge from the implication of the game’s simple rules, thus serving as a didactic analogy, which conveys that, against counter-intuitive notion, complex design and organisation can spontaneously arise in the absence of a “designer”.
His work was based on Stanislav Ulam’s and John Von Newmann’s studies on the growth of crystals by liquid motion, which demonstrates how crystals form out of liquid, showing the “first system of cellular automata”. Von Newmann created a method to calculate liquid motion by using discrete units of liquid and studying the effects it had on units/cells and their neighbourhood and the vice versa effects, meaning, he studied the changes it brought upon the pre-existing unit/cell arrangements and how their behaviours impacted on each other. There are natural rules by which units/cells transmit any excitation to neighbouring units/cells. The closer they are packed together (tessellation) the easier it is to appreciate the transmission of excitement, ergo data, upon which patterns in nature occur and build upon. The simplest example to demonstrate excitement and transmission is to throw a pebble into a still pond and watch the ripples spreading. It is
extraordinarily well ordered and executed, but the beauty lies in the detail and in the complexity of the result that follow.
It also demonstrates that information is passed on without the need of a spoken word. Information, the prerequisite for any development, you can call it the interwoven, intrinsic, and, pervasive spirit of life, is encrypted energy, or the architecture of life. Not to be confused with God, it is not an entity, though even the Bible says: ‘In the Beginning there was the Word’. Note! Words are units (or symbols) of information. Nature has its own language, present from the beginning as information passed on by interaction (see above). For Sozieterna information is simply energy, vibrational energy, where the content is encrypted by the wave’s frequency. Language, music, bird song, useful, necessary, delightful, no matter what, it is based on vibrations we feel, on waves we receive and in a frequency pattern that our brain can decipher and utilize.The work of Hermann Hake may be of particular interest for people who want to explore how self-organisation out of chaos occurs. His popular book “The Science of Structure: Synergetics” may serve that purpose. In short here, ‘Synergetics’ is an interdisciplinary science of which Hake is understood to be the founder of. It is concerned with the self-organisation of patterns and structures in an open system far from thermodynamic equilibrium and is based on the order-parameter concept that describes phase transitions in thermodynamics. Basically, self-organisation means reduction of degrees of freedom of a system in exchange of order, thus leading to pattern formation, structure and form. Self-organisation requires a macroscopic system, consisting of many nonlinearly interacting subsystems, depending on the external control parameters such as environment and energy fluxes. This applies to all the self-organisation of patterns in the many different systems in physics, chemistry and biology. Our visible world is full of beautiful patterns, in plants, animals, just anywhere you look, but they are just the other side of chaos, or the opposite extreme of one and the same collective.
Self-assembly and self-organisation share their importance with the other important aspect of Life, that is self-replication. Von Neumann realized and proofed that a particular pattern of cells/units would make endless copies of its self within its own framework. The ‘cellular automata’ were demonstrated in the tessellation automata as simple units/cells packed together. They replicated as they formed the nests of crystals, emerging in the liquid he had set up to study. In fact, the cell/unit automata inspired him to seek a self-replicating machine (which was an ambition of many scientists’ throughout centuries). Convey clearly demonstrated via computer technology that the simplest cellular automation is indeed one dimensional, with 2 possible states per cell/unit, the adjoining neighbour cell/unit on each side. A set of rules applies in nature conditionally. Convey in his “Game of Life” put an algorithm in place, which governs and determines the patterns that will be created within the given confines. Von Newman demonstrated with his study that nature actually has been doing the same all along.
Von Neumann, though his ambition was to design a self-replicating machine that could in fact evolve by itself, did not pursue this idea after all. But his design became known as the “Universal Constructor”. Importantly, his assertion was, that open-ended evolution required inherited information to be copied and passed on to the offspring separately from the self-replicating machine, an insight that preceded the discovery of the DNA molecule by Watson and Crick, which functions literally and exactly the way Von Neumann postulated as the requirement for self-replicating machines.
Self-replicating machines however are no longer a drawing board item either. They are well on the way of taking over manufacturing, particularly in certain areas of modern life. They are already used in space exploration and exploitation, (e.g.: Mars exploration, or for mining asteroids). It is far cheaper to send such machines to moon or planets than whole machinery ready made on earth. Self-assembling robots on Mars certainly do a great job right now.
Returning to life and self-replication, branches of mathematics are of particular interest here. Chaos theory and, topology especially, provide insight into the intricacy of life’s unfolding. In the apparent randomness of chaotic complex systems there are these underlying patterns, such as constant feedback loops, repetitions, and self-similarity, meaning, parts of a figure are small replicas of the whole. Such figure is called self-similar. Any arbitrary parts containing an exact replica of the whole, are called fractals. Imagine them as shapes that appear the same at different levels, as is beautifully illustrated in ‘successive magnifications’. The blueprint of Life may well be seen as a fractal that is repeated over and over again, from the macroscopic to the microscopic, one expression that fits into every dimension as a replica of and in its every detail, hence macro cosmos is the micro cosmos, only the magnification is different. But remember, the fact that order arises from local interaction between parts of an initially disordered system is energy in action.Despite talking about organic life, we have not left the realm of the inorganic by any means. Energy to matter, as miniscule as it may be, means organizing itself into structure and the emphasis lies on the phases, phase transitions and the forces acting upon and within it. Consolidation as it appears and is observed in the formation of crystals, is the underlying foundation for Earth’s geological development. As soon as we have structure and in particular a solid surface, the first step into solid biological life is made.
Still asking how organic life can arise from ordinary matter? Hopefully not, after all, it does not arise! Life is inherent in energy, which only transforms and changes in appearance. But due to the unfolding diversity it is easy to lose track and overlook the simple premises Life builds upon.
There are many theories around, how inorganic life facilitates conditions to bring about organic life. The iron, sulphur, pigment or “metabolism first” theories, just to name some, all have their merits, but I would like to look at the clay theory, solely for the reason that the Bible mentions clay as the substance of which the first human, Adam, was created from. And, because clay has shown to be a catalyst for the polymerization of RNA on which our organic life is based upon. This may be incidental or not. It sure is too interesting and too odd to gloss over, particularly since knowledge is not gained only through science as was already pointed out before.Earth’s crust is made of 90% silicate. Montmorillonite (named after Montmorillon, in France), is a group of soft phyllosilicate that forms out of a water solution as microscopic crystals, which are loosely packed together so water can still act as an agent that makes the clay swell or shrink according to the water content. This is enormously useful for all kinds of applications, including industrial ones. All clays have such propensity, just not as sublime as Montmorillonite, (found in other countries too under different names). Its significance lies in the fact of being a formidable catalyst. The clay hypothesis postulates that complex organic molecules arose gradually on pre-existing non-organic replication surfaces of silicate crystals in solution. Studies confirmed clay’s role as a catalyst in the formation of RNA, by joining nucleotides together to longer chains, which in the study also displayed gene like behaviour. (Later dismissed as too unreliable (?)).
Catalysts are well and truly amazing. They speed up development, namely in chemistry and are present all the way, also in the primordial conditions of stellar nucleosynthesis. Therein, in the gaseous clouds, you find the origin of the molecular evolution, where chemistry is a ‘way of life’. Catalysts earn the title of initiator, influencer, and work horse and, most dedicated service provider all in one, if you consider what they do to keep everything going.
The hypothesis of the “Primordial Soup” as postulated by Oparin (Russian biochemist) and Haldane (British/Indian biologist) around 1927, gave rise to John Bernal’s work (1949, Irish scientist), which concludes that most molecules necessary for organic life could be synthesized from their inorganic precursors. He later coined the word “Biopoiesis” in 1967 in reference to the ‘origin of life’.To simplify the complex work of these pioneering scientists may be best done by describing some of the distinct steps in the course of development, appropriately named the molecular evolution:
1) Elements within early Earth’s reducing atmosphere exposed to various forms of energy produced simple organic compounds.
2) These compounds may have concentrated in various locations, e.g.: shore lines, oceanic vents, hot pools etc.
3) Further transformation over time led to more complex biological polymers
4) In Bernal’s extended version, between step 2 and 3, the organic molecular evolution begins with the formation of simple structures and cell like shapes, behind which and within their boundaries, biological reactions continue to occur, but with the difference that they are now taking place in an enclosed space (vesicle, cell), and where the supply of energy is now secured by metabolism.
The way how (cell) membranes assemble offer a better understanding of the structural origin of cells, but how they become life cells the above explains that very well indeed. Prerequisite are of course the organic compounds as discussed before. We also know, the most basic is the carbon-hydrogen molecule (CH), which is a radical since the C has 3 open valences ready to pair with other atoms. It is found everywhere, including the interstellar medium, the space between galaxies, which consists of ionic, atomic and molecular gases as well as dust and cosmic rays. Any of these highly dynamic places, with magnetic fields and turbulent motions and, of particular importance ultraviolet electromagnetic radiation, are called hot spots of action, a name truly justified, since complex molecules form in such hot spots, meaning, that complex organic molecules already were present in the protoplanetary planes of our sun before Earth even existed. It should be highlighted since Earth formed by accretion, sweeping up what was available, all the diverse alchemy of life already brewed out and ready for use. However! Certain conditions favour certain developments, and pluralistic circumstances work synergistically together. While each and any development has significance in its own right, they all contribute to specific outcomes, which would otherwise never be achieved. But, single molecules do not stay single, they assemble. (It may be well be the case of Adam seeks Eve). The formation of compounds is inevitable and would certainly occur after Earth progressed as the planet and stabilised.
Polyatomic molecules are such inevitable items and with the C in it, they are biomolecules. Of specific interest are the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH), also found everywhere in the visible universe, extra-terrestrial and terrestrial alike. In certain circumstances they are toxic to organism, but they are also easily modified by the way of chemical processes, turning them into something beneficial as far as building new compounds is concerned. By the way, what is called synthesizing in the inorganic world, is called metabolizing in the organic. Both do the same thing. That is, synthesizing means chemical reactions bring new atoms and new molecules into existence not existent before. Metabolizing means, existing matter encourages new organic connections, bringing about new organic life forms. Therein lies the chance of development, survival and prosperity, bringing ever more order into a lively chaos and ever more diversity into organic life forms.
The reader may have come across the expression ‘primary metabolites’, like amino acids, lactic acids, carbohydrates, lipids, just to name the most important. They are defined as components of the basic metabolic pathways and essential for organic life forms because these are molecules responsible for structure, maintenance and procreation. In fact, they are multi-taskers, as good in engineering and management as they are in handling and passing on information to ensure species evolution takes place. They have their “hands” in everything.
From the amino acids to proteins, needed for cytoskeleton formation; from fatty acids to glycerol phospholipids, which are the essential building material of cell membranes; the carbohydrates, essential for energy supply and, structural components; to finally the nucleic bases building nucleotides, essential for RNA and DNA, which store and transmit genetic information, – these primary metabolites give the green light for the diversity of organic life. They not only create the bodies, they are the cornerstone of (cell) functioning, ranging from simple cell life to complex brain tasks, facilitating every necessary process, be it in the confinement of one cell or in the systems of multicellular organisms and enzymes are their best friends.
But ultimately, it all boils down to energy, being the fuel for every process and as the visible manifestation of all matter, expressing itself in every action and form of Life. Energy is the essence of Life, – energy is Life. In organisms it acts as a self-contained unit, while always being part of the overall Energy Life Cycle.
Now, every synthesis, every metabolic process is basically a chemical reaction in a dynamic environment. In highly chaotic (entropic) conditions the situation is particularly volatile. Initially this allows only subtle orderly processes to happen without immediate noticeable results. Atoms, molecules, cells only appear (see above), when a substantial part of the chaos has been ruled in. Cells offer just a small space within for operation, meaning, any action has to be particularly subtle, tuned down, if you like. In order to function, metabolism has to be truly a highly efficacious tool. Molecules, before catalysts, now enzymes, do indeed finely tuned work within the confined space of an organic entity, but some simple life forms do not even have yet the full set of functioning that enables them to live on their own, like viroids and viruses. Though they have their own metabolism, they need a host to propagate. Such simplistic entities demonstrate that they are just one of the possibilities of many that can arise out of those hot spot high energy cauldrons. It is a matter of time as to how successful a unit of primary metabolites is, and as to what extent it is able to establish itself as a distinct life form and survive.Since energy is necessary even for the utmost miniscule organism to sustain life, methods of obtaining it have evolved too. A simple way of “catching food”, or fuel, is osmosis, which is in fact the principle of respiration mitochondria use, the cell organelles known to be the powerhouses of the cells. Mitochondria are present in almost all cells, generating most of the cell’s adenosine triphosphate (ATP) supply, the cell’s energy source. Indeed, these organelles are vital to organic life as we know it. However, the reader should not be fooled into believing that’s all mitochondria do. Anyway, their respiratory osmosis is in most part still highly regulated and far more sophisticated than other osmotic exchanges which range from the very simple to the elaborate. Just as a side note, what these organelles accomplish and how they do it, is truly amazing. Specific literature is therefore highly recommended to explore mitochondrial intricacies.
Energy harvesting is of utmost importance, a must for all evolving organisms. Osmosis is of course only one way to fulfil the order, (see further below). Generally, it is rather a matter of what is on offer, what can be utilized and what suits best. Some organisms ingest solid elements from the environment, some peruse the aerobic path, some capture light. Certain conditions determine the route of access, other conditions provide other options, but certain is that organisms adopt a pathway that suit best and will either adapt or vanish should change occur. One anaerobic process, called fermentation, would have been the most reasonable source for early organic life forms living in Earth’s oxygen free atmosphere. Indeed, organisms deep in earth still use it. Little is known about them and one can only guess as to why they exist where they are. It may be due to being the only place for them to survive after Earth’s atmosphere was oxygenated thanks to the cyanobacteria. Gobbling up the plentiful nitrogen while releasing oxygen, they fertilized the atmosphere with O2, thus changing the environmental conditions, which paved the way for new organisms to strive. While replacing the old ones, some may have been pushed into niches where they still linger on. However! Plants played a vital role too in shaping life on Earth. Using photosynthesis as their energy source, while excreting O2 as their waste, our life pretty much depends on them. The point is, Earth provides everything that organic life needs for its survival, one way or the other. It is a perfect recycling system and if maintained well, life on Earth could go on for a long time, albeit nothing can stay the same. Transformation is part of existence.Since organic life is visible life, organisms are, figuratively speaking “parcels of energy” of variable shape, size, strength and, properties. It means, they occupy space and they have dimensions themselves. Though we already looked at them before in a different context, they require our full attention if we want to understand organic life. Basically, dimensions are “a condition of Life”, (in-) organic or not. Exploring the fundamental implications of dimensions allows us to follow Life’s trail and how organisms develop along the well-trodden path, which, in principle, we should already be familiar with. With dimensions in focus, we just look at it from a different angle.
In the first dimension single molecules simply add fellow molecules, thus building chains of molecules. But not always following a straight line, they may bend, go up and down, or hook up at one or the other point on themselves. By doing so, they build figures of the two-dimensional order, shapes if you like, meaning, they have outlines and content. But they build bodies that have volume, now belonging to the 3rd dimension, (length, width and height). With changes like these, everything else changes. Not only have their appearances changed, but qualities too, as well as their functions and capabilities, which impacts on further developments. One molecule has a different quality than a chain of molecules and shapes are different again in quality and behaviour, while bodies become sophisticated functional units, and complex entities. And one has to keep in mind, all move in space and time, regardless, (the 4th dimension). However! In space, actions occur simultaneously, and though each may have a time line and a time span, in space they are relative to each other, exerting influence on everything, regardless of shape and bodily form. Dimensions are boundless until, or unless, arbitrarily linked to or conditionally locked in by matter.
A big step forward with enormous impact on organic evolution comes with the spatial arrangements of molecules, where bodies form and functions multiply. Like molecules, shapes may clump together, or they may settle in various locations on structures built before. It means, 3 dimensional compounds gain on size and volume, and every arrangement has a unique appearance and allows for different functions with different impact on further developments. This is particularly true for proteins where there are compounds with the same number of the same molecules, but due to their different spatial arrangements the proteins are not the same, nor do they function the same way. Molecules in some proteins may even occupy locations as symmetric images, but they cannot be superimposed on each other, (like our hands). In physics we know that particles spin, but they spin clockwise or anticlockwise, and an electric field vector may be of left or right-handed orientation. In chemistry we have optical isomers, so we speak of left or right-handed molecules. This is called chirality, which has a vital role to play in all areas of Life. Living organisms use molecules of the same chirality with almost no exceptions, which is still puzzling scientists, because the why remains unexplained. Just to give the reader an idea: Amino acids are left-handed, while nucleotides and sugars are right-handed. But why? It sure has its roots in outer space physics, since in space amino acids and sugars show the same chirality and are the more prevalent than the counterparts. And remember, what happens in the macro-cosmos applies to the micro-cosmos as well. But the why still stands.
Naturally, the longer the chains of molecules, the bigger the shapes, the more locations are available to settle on and branch off from and, the more complex the compound will be. It means, as more functions develop, more duties need to be executed. We know, protein chains can be very long indeed, but in an organism, they have to fit into very small spaces too. So, the chains fold up into layers, closely packed together. Their integrity is maintained by special proteins that have control function, because all this looping, folding, inverting could spell disaster if it was not properly organised, protected and, defended, all for the sake to provide bigger surfaces in a confined space. Just think of our genetic material in cell nuclei, or, our small intestine. Long as it is, it fits into the small abdominal cavity; or the brain, with all the folds in the small bony skull! It is amazing, what can be achieved with 3 dimensional structures, consisting but of the same few particles, atoms and molecules. Nothing short of ingenious I would say. And we literally can see the blue print of Life itself right in front of our eyes without, sad to say, realizing it as such. There is no need for an idol to be worshipped, there is no entity separate from Life. It is energy, the force in action, which creates and keeps you alive and everything growing. However, as a topic of Theo-philosophical interest, it warrants a separate exploration and though it is part of the spiritual aspect of Life, it will not be extensively addressed in this article, since scientific evidence is still in its infancy to prove a point or claim certainty. Even in the field of cognition, despite recently new research interests, boosted by more sophisticated tools becoming available that allow to look into the workings of the brain and neurological systems, – the spiritual aspects remain out of reach as yet. Though ringing in a new era of discoveries, a deeper understanding of spiritual life needs more than a few new discoveries. It needs conceptual rethinking. Therefore, detailed or specific philosophical discussions will remain on their own platform until substantial headway in particle physics is made, which is no doubt the realm where the spiritual connections lie.
Having touched on the general principles of structural development, let us look at cell formation itself. Though cells are no prerequisite for protein activity, organisms are foremost celled organisms. Even viruses depend on a membrane enclosure but they are not classified as cellular, having only a protective sheet instead of a cell membrane. A boundary, separating external (inorganic) processes from internal (organic) processes, is not only necessary, it is imperative, since it separates the universal ‘entropic’ space matter from the structured solid matter, expressed at its climax as organic life forms. A cell is however still maintained as an open system, thermodynamically speaking, exchanging matter and energy through its borders with the surrounding external space. A simple unit, like a cell, can do that perfectly via the cell membrane. Cell development in detail is intricate, but let us look at the most obvious, the most likely and most simple scenario.In recent years great attention has been given to organelles. They are membrane less bodies in the cell cytoplasm, similar to colloids in suspension. Organelles, (coined coacervates by Oparin), are distinct fluidic bodies in a fluid. They form in an aqueous phase of matter rich in macromolecules (such as polymers, proteins, nucleic acids) by liquid-liquid phase separation appearing as droplets (coacervate droplets), because their phase is denser compared to the fluid, they are in. They form spontaneously via molecular self-assembly, the non-covalent interaction of molecules, in contrast to the chemical valency system. These macromolecules cluster due to electrostatic, or hydrophobic forces, (just to name a couple). Though they have no membranes separating them from the surrounding fluid, they are distinct “compartments” within it. This allows the formation of ‘quite massive’ chemical and/or, organic structures, such as viroids, membranes, ribosomes, and the cell organelles we speak of.
Sidney W. Fox showed in his work that amino acids spontaneously form small chains (peptides), which in certain prebiotic conditions build long, often crosslinked thread like structures (polypeptide globules). He called them proteinoid microspheres and primitive cells (protocells). In his experiments he found phosphoric acid acted as a catalyst fostering the process of polymerisation, building the protein-like chains. He later found similar but naturally occurring proteinoids in the lava and cinder of Hawaiian volcanic vents. When an aqueous solution has a high concentration of proteinoids, microspheres form, because some of the amino acids incorporated in the chains are more lipophilic than others, so they clot together, resembling droplets distinct from the solution they are in, (like oil drops in water).
Fox’s work certainly supports Oparin’s hypothesis, who proposed that “simple building blocks” could locally increase in complexity and their self-assembly would lead to cell like structures. Organelles, also known as biomolecular condensates, can in fact change into more solid forms, particularly as they mature, fulfilling various and, more and more duties, (e.g., participating in gene expression and signal transduction, etc.). Since Oparin, many other scientists have shown and substantially contributed independently as to how from the “chemical soup”, rich in prebiotic material full of basic building blocks, organic life synthesizes to become more complex structures, like cells.
Organelles are likely stepping stones, but other simultaneously occurring developments would foster the specific evolution of organic life too. For instance, the presence of auto catalysts, which are substances that facilitate the production of themselves, the so called “molecular replicators”, found in biological macromolecules as well as in smaller organic molecules. And other systems of self-replication, as evident in micelles, or vesicles, suggest, there is no exclusivity.
According to the official definition of life, metabolism is a criterion for life. Therefore, the hypothesis that metabolism had to be established before any organic development could occur, is reasonable. Günter Waechterhaeuser, (German chemist), proposed that indeed metabolism preceded genetics since nothing eventuates without energy. The supply of energy has to be guaranteed, to allow creation, maintenance and survival of any life form. It is of such importance that the information is passed on in its entirety to the offspring. But! To qualify as an entity in its own right, another condition has to be fulfilled too, namely, the separation of an organic compound (or unit) from its surrounding, which, and only then, turns active biological macromolecules into a distinct life entity.
The principle of energy supply is systemised, which may be based on content concentration differences (osmosis), or on the electrochemical gradient system, driving particle exchange across concentrations pools, and/or, the electrostatic force, which moves cations and anions along its charge gradient between differing pool potentials, where anions can flow one way and cations the other. The unique underlying purpose of any gradient is to achieve balance, or homeostasis, or equilibrium. While gradients provide the path for Life to begin and ensure continuity of energy supply, the general goal always is to reach a steady state. The psychological and moral equivalent to that is peace and conscience; the spiritual equivalent is heaven, paradise, or Nirvana, or, as Sozieterna likes to look at it, the ultimate evolutionary climax of differentiation. Ask humans what they want to achieve most! It is love, peace and happiness, or, paradise, heaven of whatever kind. That is the ultimate goal, and no effort is too much to achieve it, the right or wrong way. Humans work for it and spend energy on it so they can finally rest, in peace. Get it?However! Having the energy supply sorted, entity formation goes hand in hand with cell membrane development since it is not enough to have just compartments with vulnerable borders. Without “solid” walls complex life cannot succeed, at least not to the extent we have it. Obviously, the phospholipid membranes were the best and most successful solution in accomplishing the task. How many other attempts there were, even successful ones in accordance to the past environmental conditions on Earth, we will never know. After all, organisms cannot survive circumstantial changes, not of substantial and massive scale, or when it occurs too fast. Fossils, Earth’s biological history books do not, or cannot reveal all what is to know. But what has transpired by now regarding planetary evolution, Earth’s current diverse life forms will die off due to as in this case, the human species causing environmental changes that will render Earth incompatible with life, at least the way we know it. And, nobody will ever find out what happened, too rapid are the changes and too devastating are the consequences. New intelligent life may develop but by that time nothing will be left to study of what once was.
Anyway, returning to the proteinoids, the development of protobionts, or protocells, are a logical evolutionary step. They were the most likely first to emerge, the base model, so to speak. With metabolism and replication in place, the formation of an independent autocatalytic (sub-) system is rather a given than an accident. The Hungarian theoretical biologist Tibor Ganti named these protocells chemotons and proposes them to be our ‘Last Universal Common Ancestor (LUCA)’. The general biological/philosophical conclusion is that any such system may be regarded as alive and an evolutionary unit, which can be subjected to natural selection. Indeed! Earth has born us, raised us and gives us everything to thrive.
Now, since cells have membranes let us look at them a bit closer. They derived most likely from amphiphilic macromolecules (phospholipids). Like lipids, when in an aqueous solution, their nature allows them to form vesicles, multi- and uni-lamellar liposomes and, finally, the all-important bilayer membranes, which become the cell walls. The cell membrane is the only cellular structure found in all cells of all celled organisms. These membranes have a dual function, as barrier between two “worlds” and as facilitator of content exchange between the inside and outside environment. Amphilic molecules can fulfil both roles and are the best fabric for the purpose. Being bi-layered they can operate with water and lipid elements. The internal space provides a safe environment, suitable for secure functioning and propagation to nurture life, including new life. A cell is like a woman’s womb. This analogy may help to understand what protocells meant for the development of organic life forms. Life, of course, existed already, but in the confinement of a cell it is fostered, prompting cells to specialize.
It is out of scope for this article to delve into the specifics of biochemical and geo-biological conditions in detail, but there should be no doubt that Earth itself provided the perfect ingredients to give organic life on this planet the chance of differentiation in all its glory. While some scientists favour the hydrothermal deep ocean vents as the origin of organic life, others propagate hot spring sweet water pools in a volcanic crust landscape setting. Deep sea alkaline vents are a source rich in minerals. They also provide an electrochemical gradient, which ensures the emerging inorganic compartments have an energy source that endows mineral cells with catalytic properties. Inorganic compartments are precursors of cells facilitating membrane development. Very simple cell walls are found in the free-living prokaryotes, the micro-organisms (bacteria and archaea), which live in such vents.Special recognition must be given to the archaea since they have more in common with eukaryotes (to which we belong) than with bacteria, sharing similar genes and metabolic pathways with us, in particular for enzymes in gene transcription and translation. They are the most abundant of all microbiota, being a major part of Earth’s life and even in our human microbiome of the gut. They became first known as extremophiles but they are found everywhere. In fact, they are thought to be the oldest “living thing” as far as organic life goes. They also do not seem to be particularly pathogenic either, in whatever form they come. In fact, they are rather beneficial symbionts. Some insects would not exist without them and neither would we, since the mitochondria (our cell batteries) most likely descended from an archaeon interned by a host to the benefit of each other in the quest for survival. Archaea are of course also found in hot spring pools which backs the view of life’s origin being thought to have evolved in sweet water rather than the salty sea.
Inland pools of condensed and cooled geothermal vapours point at the chemistry of modern cells since they have a cytoplasm rich in potassium, zinc, manganese and, phosphate ions, which are plentiful in these pools, but less widespread in marine environments. Spewed up from earth’s inner mantle, collectively increasing in bubbling pools of water while cooling down to a more favourable temperature, there is a hatchery available in nooks and crannies and holes and cavities of earth’s crust. There, inorganic minerals can and are catalysed, organic molecules can assemble and are synthesized and, microspheres can form since the ingredients are plentiful and conditions speed up the process. It is like the stage of a concert hall where a symphonic orchestra plays and is building up to the crescendo. We know, (see above), Montmorillonite clay can help create RNA, encourages lipids to form membranes, turning fatty acids into micelles and vesicles etc., because the clay is a chemical catalyst.
The complexities of these processes are as fascinating as the best thriller and it is truly recommended to delve into the available literature, which cannot be done here. This article intends to clarify the principles of Life, provide a basic overview that encompasses the 3 distinct categories of Life. The specific focus on the origin of organic life is not because it is more interesting than the other 2, far from it, it is for the purpose to examine the publicly upheld definition of Life and the still unsettled question of the origin of Life on Earth. By summarising the known and the most likely facts of our organic evolution, it hopefully helps to update the definition of Life to the standard as Life deserves it.
Inorganic life cannot really captivate our phantasy as good as organic life does, simply because we perceive Life with our senses. Only through them do we grasp its bewildering magnitude. Though to be fair, we stare at moon and stars in wonder, but not many find it tempting to explore matter itself. With our mind we try to understand, but that is limited by our evolutionary confines, meaning, our minds always lag behind, simply due to the fact that knowledge (recognition) and insight (integration of knowledge) are not the same. Of course, the arrival of cell life was a significant milestone in the evolutionary process. It gives matter, us, the opportunity to ask the big questions of Life. But sadly, inorganic life, not considered to be Life at all, falls back into the shadows, where it worked unperturbed and shrouded in secret until science began to shine the light on it. Moon, stars and sun have lit up the days and nights, showing us that inorganic life was never hiding, we just did not know what to make of it and, in our ignorance, we still struggle to comprehend that evolution grows not just linearly, like a chain of events, but dimensionally too and just like organic life, it branches off from the main trunk, into other realms.
With the cell the path of evolution of organic life is set and its unfolding diversity is mapped out in the ‘Tree of Life’ concept. It will not be further pursued here since the history of organic life is not the topic. Inorganic life of course does not lose any of its importance either, nor can it ever be obsolete. Generally, categorizing serves a purpose that we can use and enjoy, but unification is the goal, bringing back the harmony all humans seek. The true scientist may have an advantage, for he grasps the magic of Life in a broader sense, but it is not a given, too many of them and most of us get lost in details. (See part 3)

About… Life and the human species (Part 1/3)
Our articles start more often than not with definitions to prevent confusion and misunderstandings. It is particularly necessary for this topic, because no unequivocally accepted definition of Life exists. Therefore, it would be challenging to work through the details and understand the difference between the common and Sozieterna’s definition, since our concept of Life differs from the commonly held view. The point of this article is to emphasise on the difference, but also to explore the origin of Life, with special focus on organic life for the above given reasons and because its origin still causes so much debate. Mind you, Sozieterna’s view is not unique, but one has to search for it in archives, libraries and, old scriptures, in the teachings of the East and the not quite as old lectures of scholars of the West.
So let’s start with the definitions! What is Life? The current officially accepted definitions say:
“Life is a characteristic that distinguishes physical entities that have biological processes from those that do not, either because such functions have ceased or never had it and are therefore classified as inanimate. There are various forms of life, such as plants, animals, fungi, archaea and, bacteria. Biology is the science concerned with the study of these.”
Another version is: “Life is present in organisms which are open systems that maintain homeostasis, are composed of cells, have a life cycle, can grow and adapt and undergo metabolism that sustains their life, respond to stimuli, reproduce and evolve.” Some scientists include viroids, others don’t.
Very wordy definitions indeed meaning but the same that “Life” applies to organic life only, not to matter or “dead things”. Inorganic matter/objects such as rock, earth or, an expired organism supposedly cannot have life, because essentially, they do not move, eat and, propagate.
This view is so ingrained in the human psyche that it is utmost difficult to allow for a shift away from it. But the view is deceptive, if not delusional. It is incomplete at best. Insisting that only when something shows initiative and action, therefore moves and does things, due to an “inner drive”, (consciously or not), is flawed for more than one reason, but especially because it assumes an instinctual, or a determined behavioural pattern, even a will to live, to propagate (and die?). As a criteria to define Life, this is confusing. Nobody really considers a single cell organism of having determination, a will or a wish to live, since these are mental functions. Instinct, drive, behaviour, will, even genetically conditioned impulse, all raise more questions than give answers. They imply some sort of at least a basic sense, or some neuronal/mental base activity, some kind of cognition, or possibly even a kind of inherent “consciousness” that overarches the matter living things consist of. After all, consciousness, including any of the above mentioned initiatives, are a neuronal action – reaction loop, which is hardly applicable to the primitive life forms which have no neuronal development, let alone a brain. Instinct and drive are not a reflex action either, which is a short circuit defence mechanism to protect an organism’s life. Reflexes do not initiate drive, neither instinctual drive nor genetic impulses either. Hence, attributing any kind of initiative to an organism, including brainless viroids, microbes and bacteria, these popular Life definitions pin you hopelessly down with the dilemma of biology versus philosophy, and/or theology. Having no brain, biologically speaking, organisms would therefore have to have some kind of inherent and imperceptible mental functioning and/or spiritual consciousness, the animus of life, (from Latin). That may well be but, let us keep it more factual, – any drive sure is a sign of life, it just is in itself not enough to explain Life, nor define it.
Drive/will, using physics’ language, are but an action, which is a directed motion, or a progressive movement, along a time line and in space. It means, they are a force, present in the universe in all kinds of shape and order. A force confined into a small space like a cell, however, does postulate the arrival of organic life, signifying that an organism (entity) moves thanks to the force captured within. This is indeed a mile stone in the trajectory of Life altogether, but the force in itself is the trajectory, the pathway of evolution. Drive and will, simply said, though inherent and an essential part of organic life, they are a function and serve the purpose of survival, but they are not an organism’s property, meaning, not solely assigned to them specifically. In fact, an organism has no choice but to live. This is the point of confusion; – Life does not begin with organic life, it starts with the cosmos, the Big Bang (BB) to be precise, which marks according to science, at least for now, the beginning of our universe and Life as we know it.
Of course, there are enough open questions, and of course, it is reasonable that scientists scratch their head and the biologist asks, where did this organic life come from? Is it comets? Meteorites? Was it rained on to earth by waves of cosmic events somewhere in space or, indeed, how can life come from matter? Does organic life come from Earth itself? Well, it is pointless to put walls on shaky ground, meaning, to ask these questions, if you have not fixed the foundation first, meaning, to correct the definitions of what Life is, otherwise you simply cannot move on.
So, there you have it, the problem lies in the common definition of “Life”, insisting on an arbitrary demarcation point where “life” begins but not answering what Life is. Anyway! There are attempts to simplify the wordy definitions of Life, like: “An entity is considered to be ‘alive’ if it has the capacity to carry out three basic activities, such as metabolism, self-repair and replication.” (Quoted as by John Casti, American mathematician and author).
NASA offers however the best definition: “Life is a self-sustaining chemical system”, and, “Life is matter that can reproduce itself and evolve as survival dictates.”
Thank you, NASA! There is indeed no need for a lot of words for something that is quite simple to define. At least, coming from NASA, Sozieterna’s concepts of existence do no longer sound too farfetched, implausible or, unrealistic, stating that ‘Life is movement’! Full stop! Life is not confined to organic life. It includes all development that has brought the universe with all its galaxies, stars and planets and their organisms into existence. Life is action. Life is a process. The universe is as good alive as you and me or any insect, flower, atom and particle (remember they have a spin!). There are different forms of life, yes, by all means. There are differences simply due to the time factor attached to it and the evolutionary pathways taken, evident in the level of specialisation and sophistication as the process continues. And the higher, the longer it goes, figuratively speaking, the more complex it gets.
The very basic distinctions of Life can be classified into 3 life forms, or 3 very succinct areas, valuable in their own right, and working together: Inanimate life, Organic life, Spiritual life
Inanimate life: Roughly speaking is life contained in matter or, the life of inorganic matter
Animate life: Applies to sensual and intelligent life forms, with feelings and cognition, (or organic life in the lengthy definition as outlined above).
Spiritual life: Which is the elusive state of life that so far intelligent life forms, us, struggle to understand and explain. Cognition serves as a bridge, offering an entrance into the realm unknown, therefore the category is expressed as mental/spiritual life.
The spiritual part of evolution lies ahead of mankind. Apart from some exceptions, who may be called “catalysts or initiators”, man has not yet caught up with even understanding the possibilities that come with such development, despite being the most intelligent species of the animal world. Partially that is due to his tendency to separate things, compartmentalize. With all the advantage it brings, it hinders too. To comprehend the inseparable nature of things does not come easy, regardless if it is in plain sight or not. For example, humans may consider life and death as inseparable as a figure of speech, but not in form of existence and non-existence, they are something very separate. What they mean by saying “that’s Life” is, – you can only have life, or death, despite that Life is life and death!
Compartmentalisation is more often than not the root of confusion. Intellectual thought processes become bias, leading to faulty conclusions. For instance, if you die, you cease to exist as the organic entity. Your disintegration but is part of Life. You are part of the Life cycle, meaning, you get recycled. Non-existence just means re-integration of (your and all) solid matter into the bigger or formless scale of existence. You may live on as a spiritual entity, where solid matter is of little or no significance, (a topic worth to explore another time), but not to acknowledge that distinction and separation are just a useful tool, has the down-side of exclusivity of one or the other, to the detriment of the inseparable unity that Life itself is.
On what grounds, you may asked can Sozieterna claim that its concept of life has credibility. Well, Sozieterna does not claim anything. There is no intent to convince anyone as to what Sozieterna considers the truth and lives by. But sure is, we know what we are talking about. We like logic and utilise the available knowledge to connect the dots relevant to us and our understanding of Life and Truth. Others may prefer to believe, whatever that may be.
Naturally, talking about Life, we have to go back in time to its origin, at least to a certain extent. “Life” as we know it began with the Big Bang (BB). We have already delved into the intricacies of BB before in other articles and, the concerning reader may wish to research it at his own leisure via other sources too, but in this article we look at some of the systemic principles involved, which play a role in the building of matter, ergo the world as we know it, but we’ll look only at the fringe into the details involved.
Emerging out of the primordial plasma-gluon soup well after the BB, with the elementary forces and particles still swirling, evolution is already well on its way. With the actual “birth” behind it, all the basic ingredients of matter are within that soup, which will make up everything in existence we see now, and what is still to come. ‘Birth’ was facilitated by the immense energy set free by BB, and growth adheres and is guided by the inherent natural laws of physics, which science tediously and patiently has laid bare. Note! The main principle, the fundamental law of nature, comes down to be basically wave dynamics, oscillating from the disorganised to the organised and vice versa, (conceptually, from chaos to order, or systematically from random to tidal wave). By the way and interestingly, the expression “soup” is an intriguing choice of word, implying it to be a watery fluid. And as it has become known, the quark-gluon plasma flows indeed like water, due to the ratio of its constituents, which is apparently the same for both. The analogy is striking and convincing by association, – both are essential to Life, inanimate and organic life alike.
However, the point to make here refers to something different. Regardless of BB’s dimension and setting, there was energy. Unfortunately, defining energy is as confusing as the one of Life though for different reasons. Energy is a quantum (of the electromagnetic field) in the realm of particle physics, where particles and waves follow the uncertainty principle and where wave and particle are the same, assuming one or the other state, or superpose, meaning they have dual functioning, behaving according to and dependant on the state they are in, which may be one or the other, or as one in dual state like a coin with 2 sides. In mechanical physics energy is seen as a quantity (!), always attached to something such as a body or a system. It is no entity of its own. Such statement explains and describes what energy does, not what it is. The unfortunate gap between quantum and mechanical physics becomes very clear here. Despite the obvious, the either/or approach hinders integration because it does not consider the quantum physics duality as the nature of things. But let us focus on the fact that both are valid approaches and as applicable to energy in its dual quality as in its dual functioning.
To simplify, energy is the core and the heartbeat, the beating heart in fact, it is the precursor of the BB and everything that follows. Figuratively, BB is contained in a ball of energy and may be seen as a point, or particle, resembling a seed, filled and alive with energy within, held together by the pivotal point of power that lies between two poles of opposing charges. It is potential energy kept in balance. It is alive but in a state that requires a certain amount of adjustable inner strength to maintain the status quo, because the overall situation within is constantly in flux and thus labile. And then ‘bang’! It could no longer hold on to balance, the power system broke down, either because its inner strength faded and had to give in, or because external conditions got the better of it, or the pressure got the better of it and the confined power tore it apart, ending the confinement and the wave began rolling in all directions. The jury for what the reasons were for coming off balance is out there, but sure is that it made the seed sprout. From the physics point of view, there is no such thing that a fluctuating or labile system can remain in an absolute same state forever, confined or not. Strictly speaking the only absolute is the relative. The causes of the BB are but irrelevant to the topic here, since the focus is on energy, its nature and interrelationship with Life in motion. BB was just the jump start to evolution of matter and Life as we know it. For the physicist it is the breaking of the symmetry of the system that interests him. For the biologist it is the homeostasis he is compelled to study and for the philosopher it is peace and harmony that catches his attention. But all are qualitatively, conceptually and practically the same.
Any arrested or controlled force harbors potential energy, due to its power being contained. Perfect symmetry, balance, homeostasis means that this is the state of stillness, where no energy is spent. In essence it is Nirvana. But despite its relevance, this applies to Life as the subject of interest in this article only conditionally. It applies however unconditionally to the transcendental state of Brahman in the Hindu religion or the Buddha in Buddhism, and the One in Christian believe, though not to a God as entity as the Christians portray the One. Please note, it does not mean, there is none or no chance of motion in stillness. It just means pure energy is in the state of the least possible expenditure. It compares to the state of ultimate consciousness where thought and reality meet and are one, as in superposition, the quantum state. These are the 2 states of nirvana, two layers, both transcendental in nature, one coin with 2 sides. It means, momentum is “at rest’, but can and will increase, never mind how long it may take and if it is a conscious decision or not, it can, and will eventually override inertia. That is the momentum of BB, the symmetry breaking, the loss of balance and homeostasis. Now in flux, it starts the process of Life and is energy in motion, which will build up on itself, utilizing any released and newly generated energy in the best and whichever way possible. Energy, ergo Life, actually establishes its own energy supply system from the outset: As one thing is created the other succumbs. Life and death are therefore the perfect cycling arrangement. But any force, any movement, all vibrations, oscillations, thermodynamic currents and flows and, all matter, you and me, you name it, it all is and depends on that energy. Energy is Life, energy has life, energy is alive. Look at the universe down to planet Earth und its organic life forms, all need, contains and releases energy, and death is part of it. Indeed, it is true, death does not end Life, it frees up energy for Life to go on. Eternal Life is no phantasy, but the breaking of harmony, symmetry, balance, no matter what name you give it, sets the wheel in motion.
In summary, potential energy does not mean it is absolutely stable or absolutely labile, it oscillates between one and the other. Anything in motion will seek the lowest possible energy state to allow a system to come to rest, achieve harmony again, equilibrium and peace of mind. And vice versa, it will break free because – it is the inherent nature of Life, where the absolute is in itself relative. To conserve energy, save energy is but a necessity. After all, to condense energy into matter and maintain it as such, is a high demand and costly fuel business. The available energy has to be spent wisely since the amount of energy stays the same, exactly as physics states it. But as long as there is energy, there is life, regardless which state it assumes or it is in.
Science, still not knowing everything, provides the best explored and documented evidence for most of the facts of inanimate/organic life. It does not claim to know the answers to the why of existence and steers away from any such questions. Instead, it seeks to answer how things works and that is good enough, because evolution is a work in progress and answers will be revealed as it goes. Humans are just at the beginning to grasp the biggest mystery, making the next big step that is the mental/spiritual aspect of Life. But, scientists also have their personal flaws. After all, they are humans who err all the time. Be alert! It is important to understand sciences’ limitations.
This brings into focus again, why science has so much trouble with the definition of life: It is such a dead set tradition to think of Life only in terms of organic life. Not to get bogged down in an argument, – for Sozieternas the principles of Life remain the same for all three categories, no matter how different the appearance of them is. It means, when we look and explore them, we will always come back to these principles, since they are the basis all Life is built upon.
Let us ask now the question, where did organic life on Earth come from and how did it evolve?
Opinions about the origin of organic life are diverse and just as colourful. Closer to home is the hypothesis that it may have evolved on earth in deep sea volcanic vents or in calm pools of water on earth’s crust. There is also the thought of “Gaia”, postulating that Earth itself is an organism that breeds life, nurtures it and recycles it to keep the organism (itself) alive. Gaia is of course no new idea, it has been around for ages, but never been taken seriously, until now. Evidence is mounting that this view may not be that far off the mark as once thought. The debate however is still skewed to the out of space origin, which Sozieterna finds rather amusing, because, let’s face it, where did life in the universe come from? Why would the universe be able to produce life, or at least the building blocks of life, but not Earth? What you can find here on earth, you find in the universe all the same and vice versa. Thiopene was found on Mars and in meteors that landed on Earth. The buzz now is that life was possible, if not probable on Mars at one point in time too, and may still be found there as we speak. Could Mars be the origin of life on Earth? Remember Eric van Daniken, who made a case of ancient paintings resembling astronauts, implying aliens settled here from out of space helping the primitive humans to advance in every aspect of their lives? While nothing is impossible, Sozieterna but wonders, why science still grabbles with speculations, when actually the ingredients for life are readily found everywhere, in the universe and on Earth. Even if one does not consider Earth as an organism itself, it sure is capable of generating life, full stop. Never mind alien life remnants reigning down on earth in whatever form, or alien civilizations, Martians or Orians or others unknown. Aliens may have visited, or indeed sought a new home because who knows, they may have lived on Mars but destroying the planet just as humans currently do with Earth. Nobody as yet can prove or disprove one or the other and it does not matter anyway, because, and please take note: Life is no incidence, no accident, and no rare event at all. Life and evolution are inevitable. Life just comes in different forms, which confuses the not really as highly intelligent people of Earth as they think they are.
Life as a process evolves and specialises. In essence, Life is energy and energy is the God religious doctrine tells you exists as the ever present, the omnipotent, the elusive Being. But God cannot be found anywhere because no such entity exists all by itself. The spirit, or better, the energy, the potential, is innate. If you are comfortable to give this intrinsic state of Life a name, then name it God, or whatever you wish, but accept the fact that “God” is an expression of life, meaning that you as everything else is God, with all the positive and negative that is the prerequisite of creation, that is our universe, including the good and evil that makes up you, your character, your mind and spirit. The Buddhists insist, their ‘religion’ is a way of life. Sozieterna cannot agree more. Though Sozieterna does not ascribe to Buddhism, nor to any particular congregations, its members may choose a God expression that represents an aspect of life they relate to, but it is of no relevance to Sozieterna as a nation, because its members accept Life and God as interchangeable, as a matter of speech and concept. It has no bearing on how they treat and experience Life. For them, Life strives from humble beginnings to specialised perfection. It is the eternal cycle of life. Sozieternas call it also the ultimate phase transition principle, starting from an undifferentiated and omnipotent state of unbroken symmetry in the ultimate balance of power, to the ultimate differentiated Potency at the climax of evolution. Both are just pinnacles, which people like to call God in their traditions. If you wish to learn more on this, please read the chapter 5, part 4 of Femina’s Book DNA II. It contains a discussion on that subject, (in case you have or do not read her book, chapter 5, part 1-6, deals with the subject the way it affected Femina at one point in her life and is therefore in layman’s language).
But let us look what science has to say to the origin of organic life on Earth, which is about 4,5 billion years old. How Earth came about is in itself interesting but please explore at your own leisure through other literature.
Since the all-important point is essentially the role of energy, we have to begin with it, particularly since energy has never been contemplated in its entirety and implication. It was never expressed in terms of philosophical concepts either, despite being fundamental in every aspect of Life. Energy is generally only dealt with in physics. It is not understood in its complexity as the essence of existence itself, nor as the expression of the materially invisible and visible worlds. Despite us humans talking a lot about energy in context of our health, our well-being and productivity, we do not link up the roles it plays overall. Acknowledging energy as the force of Life holistically, we cannot stress enough, brings a new dimension to our mind set and may well lead to new approaches to long standing open questions like what dark energy and dark matter are. Or, what role energy has in the elusive realm of philosophical and spiritual thought, so humans can stop chasing God and never find him. So! Let us talk again and a bit more about Energy, E=mc2!
The very elegant formula, thanks Albert, tells us what energy is in physics, or better, what it is in the phase of solid matter. Matter, as we know, can present itself in different forms, depending on the phase it is in. E.g. water can be fluid, solid as in ice, gaseous as in steam. This are the most common phases of all matter, not just for water. There is also plasma. And there are the between states of phases, like metaphases and interphases. And every time, when matter undergoes a phase transition (be it by heating, cooling, pressure etc.), the one and the same thing ends up to look and behave so differently that one may consider it as having no relationship with each other at all.
Phases are the arrangements of atoms that give matter its specific form and properties. We know from practical experience how water can change, how it behaves and what it looks like in its different phases, but in other cases we do not. Phase transition is an active process, facilitating atomic rearrangements, which is in fact an action of Life. Despite occurring in the inanimate stage of objects (like water), a phase change is ‘life’ changing or, a “change of life” for that object.
Phases apply to energy itself. It has its own phase settings and in each state, it appears very different to the other. Initially, energy has no form, no set directives and is certainly not visible, at least not to human eyes. This phase, called the phase of potential, is omnipotent. It is Life’s potential. When contained in a system and bound to an energy field, movement is constrained and though it can move in any given direction, it is only assuming the state of a collection of forces that are the potential energy, the power it holds. The forces may or may not wildly bubble and boil, just “jitter”, only sometimes bursting at random into an array of local waves and whirls, disintegrating again or reaching a momentum of condensation, a point where waves may intersect, or clash and/or annihilate each other. This is Phase I of energy and represents energy in its basic form. Synonymous with phase I, the ground of seeding, is David Bohm’s quantum potential of a pervasive quantum field. (Read our article on “Strings, Holograms and associated Things”, the last 2 pages as our reference). It is the quanta and quantum potential all in one.
Phase II of energy is the realm of quantum physics, the more condensed form of energy, the plasma-gluon and gaseous phase, where elementary particles and elementary forces are present, observable as wave or particle, under the rule of the Uncertainty Principle but definitely concrete as one or the other. Being energy all the same, it is moving/kinetic energy, no longer bound to a field’s matrix but to particles/waves, which move along their own specific speed and order. In this state, quantum superposition, waves and particles are a reality. It is here where the foundation of a visible world is laid.
In Phase III we leave the invisible realm of energy for good and enter the atomic world, far more tangible and far more accessible for human exploration. Unfortunately that is the point where energy is no longer considered as something in its own right, only as being an inherent ingredient, not an expression of itself. Bound now in a conglomerate, a system of entanglement of particles and forces, binding together actively, close or at distance, this form of energy serves as the building block for bigger things to come. Atoms, molecules, all are accumulating matter, which is after all condensed energy. It obviously needs free energy too, so not all energy can be bound in order to foster the process, meaning, you now have very clearly bound and free energy. And energy has the capability to be and do just that, being a double agent, on the one hand consuming and releasing part of its energy to transit into another form, and on the other hand consolidating in accumulated matter, and all this according to and depending on environmental and specific demands. Energy is but the master of matter, not the other way round. As densified energy, in this phase it is flexible, it is matter in the fluid phase and as such it is observable and tangible. But nobody sees it now as energy itself, only as something having energy, because in physic’s current model, energy is not something “pure”. It is only something in context of something else. Of course, humans made this assumption and they stick to it no matter what, or until ‘proven’ otherwise.
Phase IV of energy is energy in the form of all our visible solid matter, E=mc2, which says it all: It is mass, it has speed (as in motion). It is a force and it has power. The square potential of speed has a mathematical application but should in this instant serve as the 2 facets of force applicable to matter, meaning, one is contained within the matter, the other acts as the force that drives development within the space in which it exists. So! Energy is mass in motion, intrinsic power and a force in the space-time dimension. Mass is energy at rest, holding force potential and power within.
Dark matter, dark energy? It is the other side of the coin since we live in a dualistic world where every particle has its antiparticle and every force has a forward and backward direction. David Bohm deserves another study of what he calls the “implicate and explicate order” and so does John Wheeler, who says matter is the manifestation of information. But energy is the core (heart) and the heartbeat of all of it. It expresses life of its own and in its own right. The universe is the visual expression of it, and so are we. Starting minute (as in BB), it accelerates, building up on the previous achieved. It branches out into plain and into space, moving dimensionally and also creating its own dimensions. It may behave like the snowball that runs down the hill to become an avalanche, but no matter what, the principle stays the same and E=mc2 says it fair and square, in Phase IV energy is solidified matter, (like water is ice).
Well, since solid matter occupies space, let us talk about dimensions. After all, we live in a dimensional world, which is another way to figuratively experience energy, visualize Life and conceptualize evolution since all is built dimensionally. Movement is dimensional and, it creates dimensions: First you have a point to start from, than movement creates a line, which is in fact, one point after the other. A line can go in one or more and any direction. It may not be a straight line either, but a curve, a wave, undulating, cycling, circling, or branching off the line, – it still follows the same principle, one point, and one step at the time. It is the same concept of starting small to going big, though now in context of dimensions. To move you need space, right? But if there was no space? Well, with force you can tunnel one out. Besides, ‘Nothing’ is not really nothing, it is at least the opposite of ‘Something’. Or let’s say, non movement is just a (localized) potential, like the BB, a point in time occupying a localised space, (or a black hole in the centre of a galaxy), which is Energy compressed into a minute space! One could say, hyperinflation of BB was just the force “clearing the way”.
Of course, as energy becomes complex, and ever more visible, we, the intelligent product of it, become aware that we do not live in a one dimensional but three dimensional world, plus the space-time dimension, the 4th, which still is a challenge for us to comprehend as a truly tangible reality. Anyway! Consider lines, waves, curves, – all can and do form shapes as they expand, connecting up with each other, branching out into different directions and, after all, into space. They band together as if seeking each other’s company, accumulating to specific structures and after all, cells and skeletons. And all but from a single point, one step at the time and as always, movement is the prerequisite. Within the point lies potential, it is the “ball of energy” which, as it expands and inflates, literally, starts the ball rolling. And as long as it has and generates energy it will keep going. Energy is spent in the process but is never lost. It just undergoes a transformation, which always relates to the amount of energy contained within the system (point), since overall, there is no other external source of supply. To fuel the process, free energy has to be available and you guessed right, the key is, as one thing is built, another has to go, constantly recycling energy. So you can say, energy is relative in every aspect, including all its phase appearances, – and so is Life in general, including ours.
To make creation even more impressive, simplicity rules and is the magic of Life unfolding. It gives rise to the most intricate and wondrous, though the underlying (or overarching) principles are extraordinarily simple. We often say it is the simple things in life that makes life worthwhile and have then to admit, they may be far more difficult to behold, because order falls into disarray and balances are broken and we get lost amongst it in confusion. When BB, the point in time, bursts into the scene, its potential energy is released and falls into the patterns of movement, governed by the natural law of its own inherent quality. Thanks to our busy scientists who cannot sleep, when there are open questions, we now can marvel about the unveiled mysteries, because Life, the real thing, is simple and truly magnificent.
To summarize, energy is “It” (Life). Our world, as we know it, is but one expression of many possibilities. The principles of Life (energy) don’t change, only the expression of it does. As it manifests in phases that look and feel and behave as if they were not one and the same thing, we are the ones lost in translation. Well! You may argue that ice and water are not the same and you are right too, they aren’t, but both are still H2O, despite the difference in appearance and application.
Animate life, following these principles, made and continues to make the comprehension of itself accessible to even the primitive life forms via neuronal development. The human brain is just a specific culmination. Despite that, we still do not understand our own life, nor Life as a whole. However! Earth is not the only place, where organic life exists. It sure can be found elsewhere in the vast universe, just not necessarily in all places and probably unlike that on earth. It may also be far more advanced than we are. Due to the fact that evolution follows a pattern according to the laws of physics which determine the evolution of the cosmos, repetition is something integral too. It is used from the beginning and as that highly successful all the way, demonstrated in nature wherever we look. Why would we think organic life is exclusive to Earth or be an exception in the universe as far as intelligence goes?
Never mind, let us return to the basic question scientists struggle with that is how organic life can evolve from the inanimate material world, (here on Earth, or elsewhere). Though science has enough evidence to show our life is well and truly earth’s own fruit, it is not unreasonable to suggest it may have been seeded from space debris. Both happens and occurs simultaneously anyway. But why deny Earth its potential? Earth was a fireball as so many other planets are right now. It cooled down and like the skin in a cup of hot milk, a crust formed though still being like an oven, with fires burning and food cooking, constantly spewing out all these new rocks so fertile for life to thrive. Why should it not be the source of organic life? Just look of what organic life here on Earth is made of. All the ingredients are from this planet. Not enough alien matter has been found to suggest an origin from a truly alien world. However! Our universe is not an alien world either, it is our world, and we are the product of the cosmos, Earth and all, but Earth is our mother and our home. Though Life is ever present, the puzzle is how matter assembles into the various forms. (See part 2/3)

About…End of 2020 Council Meeting
What a year 2020 was! Though I personally cannot complain, except that I was too busy, the overall disasters were devastating and have far reaching consequences for us all.
Sozieterna’s council has met as usual to draw conclusions from the year gone by. Sadly we have to accept that all attempts to change course to bring back balance for the sake of life and the health of the whole planet are failing. The scale of positive and negative forces is out of range too much, with too much weight on the negative side, it can no longer be corrected.
All of us agree, that the human kind has not enough intelligence to ensure it could reach its full potential. The little bit of intelligence it has is not oriented towards growth. It has no insightful reasoning, no interest, nor any wish to survive, it is but on the course of self-destruction, inevitably so and sadly everything else dies with it.
2020 saw the wrath of nature unfolding, but what does man do? Nothing, nothing that is constructive, but plenty more of devastating actions. Politicians, governments are only the outcrop of a race that is doomed. In moral terminology, evil has taken over and indulges in destruction for personal gain. Now it has become so strong it does not even need to hide anymore. Such branch of life, we call human, is unsustainable for it eats all up until nothing is left. It does not even seem to understand that escape is not an option. Living on the moon, Mars or wherever in the universe? Good luck! These are no places of plenty that Earth once was before humans destroyed it.
But such is the way it goes when the balance, the “ph” of life is not maintained within a reasonable range. Sozieterna knows, there will be other chances to bring something new and more capable into the world of matter and time, to not only survive but overcome the constraints of existence, however, it may not be on planet Earth. But the universe has enough scope to foster something special. One thing is certain, it is not our human kind. Having no regards for life, no love for it, having neither wisdom nor insight, and only delight in abuse of whatever is, it will never achieve something great.
It also was totally ridiculous to listen to the slogans of governments during the corona virus pandemic. They want to save lives? What lives? They kill life without any hesitation, they don’t save any life. Well, they also killed democracy and guess what: between March and September there were in Australia 908 Corona Virus related deaths, but there were 2000 suicides. Are the ignorant politicians the evil force that ruins everything? Sorry, no! They are just part of that human kind that has not enough intelligence to let and make things prosper, or to travel the road to the ultimate goal that is the destiny of consciousness and to which all life is directed and strives for.
Our website was once again questioned, if it actually is worthwhile to keep it going. It does not make any difference to Sozieternas, but I may or should do as I like. Since I believe it serves a purpose, I will keep it going for as long as I get not tired of it. Of course, it is of interest only for some special minds who read not just for entertainment to gloss over the day. It gives something to think about, if you like it or not is not even important. Let me put it that way, to show what life is, or to tug on your heartstrings, or to get you enthralled by the characters of a novel or the thrill of fiction, this it is not the purpose of this site. But if you take your time and take a ride from one line to the next, then you have an open mind which will find the things worthwhile to ponder about. The speed-reader will get lost and the highly educated will find it too simple for their sophisticated way of thought, but what I want to achieve, by keeping the site open for all to browse, is important to me and it is not the accolades of the establishment, that’s a given.
It would be of no interest for the reader to talk about what else council had to say or its intention or wishes for 2021. Sozieternas do as always whatever needs to be done as situations arise. Of course we are concerned, how can you not be concerned, but Sozieternas are a minority and there is no hope to make any difference on a global scale. But on the personal level their actions are important and they will always adhere to their principles and their pro-life stand.

Facts and conclusions on a pandemic
We have 1.8 Billion or, more precise 7,777,005,224 people living on this planet (Easter 2020).
China has 1,438,110,025 India 1,377,020,772 Europe 747,510,500 USA 330,577,796 Japan 126,560,327 Italy 60,360,000 Spain 46,750,000 France 65,273,511 Germany 83,725,486 UK 67,886,011 Sweden 10,099,265 Austria 9,006,398 and Australia 25,499,884 –
These are just samples picked for relevance to the topic and out of personal interest in some of them. Being sick of hearing about this deadly corona virus apparently “decimating” the world’s population, it warrants scrutiny on the information available and, to put the data into perspective, including infection and death rates and, compare (the above and other) countries. It also warrants considerations in context of possible causes and reasons for the differences and examination of speculations associated with the pandemic in broader terms. So here it goes:
At the start of Easter we had apparently worldwide 1,703,018 infections and 102,843 deaths! Considering the population of our world (and the countries as above), this death rate is not even worth the mention particularly not since millions die of hunger, diseases and war every day. A disease with deathrates in the above numbers does not make my head spin in fear and neither should yours. Of course, these rate figures change daily and vary from country to country, regardless if they are now in a state of lockdown or not.
China had 3,339 deaths so far of 81,953 infected. In the USA 503,177 infected and 18,761 deaths. Germany had 122,171 infected and 2,736 deaths. Japan dealt with 6,005 infections and 99 deaths. Austria had 13,667 cases and 315 dead and in Australia there were 6,292 recorded infections and 56 deaths.
Now in all these countries quarantine was ordered at variable times and more or less vigorously. China acted quickly, the USA less so, in Japan we had the first refusal of letting the virus into the country by not allowing cruise ships to dock, (which was very wise indeed) and though they have declared a state of emergency now, work continues, meaning, there is no overall lockdown as in most western countries except, Sweden, which still has none.The reported figures of infection and death rates all over the world, do in fact not reflect how many infections actually are present, because most countries have not even tested their population, either because they have not the means to do it or do not consider it necessary, which in itself should raise everyone’s suspicions about how serious the danger to people’s lives is, particularly, when countries have the financial ability to do it. But instead of testing, various governments opted for putting some of their people under some form of quarantine, closing businesses and ordering social distancing, restrict travelling within the country apart from closing borders and, a form of “house arrest” for all to prevent any kind of social gatherings. But not testing for a disease caused by an unknown virus, bug or toxin is negligence first and for all as there could be a real deadly consequence. It is questionable in the case, when drastic attempts are made to prevent the spread which are solely based on indiscriminate assumptions, not facts. How can assumptions and, plainly suspicions justify the lockdown of a whole country? Neither does it prevent an unknown virus from spreading, but causes significant damage to the society at large, socially and economically, instead. And as it has shown very quickly with COV19, people carry the virus without symptoms, infecting the unsuspecting others unbeknown. If there was a real dangerous virus on the loose, this would be a disaster, (see Ebola outbreak in Africa not long ago). But here we have a loony attempt to prevent this virus from spreading by testing only people who already have the full blown disease, meaning the infectious stage is most likely over when they are tested. This is not a preventative measure! Any government claiming it was safeguarding its population and prevent them from harm with such poor strategies is pretentious, not caring. A “deadly” virus would warrant a far more serious and very different management indeed, (like China did immediately at time of outbreak).
Besides, any information passed on to the public about what is known of the virus so far has emotional overtones and is anxiety and panic provoking. It neither is complete by any means. The media feeds the public what is allowed to be fed and, being up for sensational reporting there is no restraint on a frenzy of reporting the worst of the worst. It looks to serve a purpose that is an intent to gloss over facts favouring biased information, suiting the government officials and its advisers and stir up public emotions. With all the keen scientists in a race to earn their glory it is hard to believe that there is no more to be said to this hype of a “deadly virus” on the loose. With such distortion, no report given to the public is truly trustworthy, which is confirmed when you scrutinize the messages and actions. Indeed, actions always speak louder than words and discrepancies are found all over the place. To start with,- there was no alarm raised by the authorities even long after it was known that the virus affected particular groups of people. Hardly a measure was put in place to protect them from exposure, and I don’t mean to put them in quarantine. The ones who care for them ought to be screened so they do not pass on a virus deadly to them! But no, the whole population is told to stay at home for no other reason than to “flatten the curve” (of infection). The rationale being that then nobody gets infected or becomes a carrier, or already a carrier without symptoms, the virus could not be passed on unnoticed. What a joke! And! Since many health care systems cannot properly cope with an increased number of patients due to poor resourcing, the statement that younger people would be treated rather than the old because their lives being more valuable is age discrimination, which is upheld by both, medicos and government, even under normal conditions. It sure is no sign of a caring government, which it claims to be und is so keenly purporting. And the media is full of praises for Scott, the Moron, who has no clue what is what, except he is a pushy sales man with an outstanding tenaciousness, which he puts to good use in covering up the holes of his and the government’s incompetent wheeling and dealing.Since enough time has elapsed to gain knowledge and insights of the virus, the public still receives plenty of sensational updates but factually piecemeal news and, testing still has not encapsulated the majority of people, so we will never know how many people actually became infected in the first instance. Therefore, the available data should not be taken as the mantra of useful results because it rests on too many uncertainties and variables. No data can reflect the true value correctly when essential data has not even been included in the investigations. This is like saying, all people are red. To assume that no other coloured people are around, is not science but an assumption. Other coloured people were just not seen when or where they looked. Selling assumptions as the truth is not only misleading, it is a sign of a corrupt mind too. Such “science” is misused science and whoever propagates it is indeed dangerous to any society, democratic or not.
Europe had some sad infection- and death rates and so has the USA. It certainly raises the questions what the reasons for such different and sure upsetting figures are, particularly since some areas, even within a country were specifically affected and death rates far higher than in other places. This of course skews the average estimation of how deadly this virus is. It still does not serve as evidence for it overall. What is does mean however is, that the virus is dangerous for some people under certain circumstances. Sorry folks, I am looking at data and not at the emotional cost that every death carries for the ones left to grieve. And though the incoming incident rates change rapidly, the trend remains pretty much the same. You do the math and screen the data and you will come up with far less risk to lives overall than what the various governments want you to believe.
Of course, health systems can be overwhelmed by increased demands, but what is their baseline functioning? Italy for once has been known to have not only an old age population but was on a limp with its medical care capacity for years, about which staff, nurses as good as doctors have been complaining and, demanding it to be fixed to no avail. Interestingly, and may I say so typically Italian, the supplies rolled in as the emergency became horribly apparent. The same applies to health care systems in other countries and everyone knows the problems the USA has. Nobody wants to admit, (particularly not in Europe), that their country is not up to the best level of health care and that they struggle with every heavy flu season too.
But there are sure more factors contributing to clusters of infection and death than just poor resourcing. Let’s make it very clear, not everybody stays home when they feel sick. Some people may not even be able to afford not to work, Japan being a good example, but their infection rate and death toll seems to be very low considering the massive workforce, more like an ant hive than ghost city, if you get the drift. (They may however not be reporting either). Other societies are particularly community and family orientated and live in each other’s pocket, so to speak and, poor folks will always live in far more crowded and unhealthy conditions than the affluent side of a country’s society. Sharing and caring may not always be a good thing either, at least not when you have a contagious disease going full throttle without anyone knowing until it becomes obvious; never mind, this is true for seasonal colds and influenza just as well. Any new influenza virus can strike as badly despite vaccination, which protects you only good enough for the known strands not a new mutation, which then has a detrimental effect and people do die in the thousands. Just look at the figures from a bad flu season. So, if you consider poor health care funding, the social nature of Italians, the elderly more likely to live in the country, the unknown effects of an unknown virus, you have all the more reason to conclude, the devastating numbers of deaths amongst (e.g. Italy) an older population particularly at risk, are rather logical than a sign that the new virus alone is to blame for the hair raising outcome.
And then we have Sweden. Sweden faces the pressure from countries in lockdown, where scaremongers and overzealous politicians are now flexing their muscles in an unprecedented show of state control and disregard for civil rights, under the excuse to want to save lives. Sure there are also the governments who genuinely believe they do the right thing, or they are just angst ridden for being seen as “uncaring”, or they need to conform because they have not enough stamina to go their own way and not buy into the hype as created elsewhere by who knows who. However, it is sure not acceptable to point the finger at a country which does act according to their own advisers, who by all means cannot be classed as incompetent. Now, Sweden has 9,685 infections recorded and 870 deaths (at the time of writing the article) and no lockdown, instead, providing sensible directives for the public and, a sensible population does what should be done in any case of a contagious illness going around. Belgium and Netherland have higher infections and death rates than Sweden, the rate being in the high 20 000 for both and deaths at 3,015 and 2,511 respectively, despite lockdown. But whose infection and death rate gets reported in the media? That of Norway and Denmark, because they got less infections and of course far less deaths, though they still rise under their lockdown. Now does that speak for fair reporting or the success of having a lockdown? However, in the political climate sweeping through Europe like the virus itself, one can only admire the Swedes for their stand against the pressure that the outside world puts on them. Not to cave in and not to do the same as everybody else shows courage. Their experts provide advice too for their government with no less scientific clout than the rest of Europe. The question here is however, how can they remain so calm under the turmoil created around them? My personal answer is, because they are an advanced democratic and socially conscientious society, which has a sound trust in their capabilities and therefore can trust their government elected by them. One reflects the nature of the other and it is to their benefit all the way, even in the face of losing lives, which sadly is not preventable when a new virus plays the field and no defence is activated as yet. But Sweden’s death rate gets demonised. That kind of biased media sails in the high winds of state sanctioned propaganda. And the reasons are obvious. Sweden is a sore thumb in the madness that has taken over most western countries. It ridicules them and their kind of experts. It could even mean political backlash if it turned out the Swedes were doing it right and, the duped populations realize the plunder. Because what happens in these lockdown countries is the demolition of values that has kept western democracies afloat and their critical intelligence alive. These minds but are crucial as they emphasise and press for the change necessary to set up the future course of civilisation, should there be a chance for all to survive in the face of global destruction and the present climate change reality.
The hype around this new corona virus is unprecedented, particularly as SARS in 2003 had overall a higher deathrate than the current version of it. People survived worse than these epidemics and do so every time when a new type of flu causes havoc with deathrates high too. Will now be lockdowns ordered every time this is occurring? Is it that what is meant by saying society will never be the same after this pandemic has run its course? Unlikely, but if so, it would be no good prospect, I would say.
But who really wants you to believe the propaganda that this virus is so deadly and that state orders are justified in the interest of all people, even at the cost of societal functioning, livelihoods and mental wellbeing? Well, it is like in a violent domestic situation, when victims are constantly bullied so they finally believe they have no abilities, no means, and no way to escape the inevitable and thus endure what should not happen in the first place. Control can bend everyone’s mind into believing whatever the controller wants the victim to believe. Isolating the victim from family, friends and community is part of it and every controller’s tool to assert complete compliance to his rules und his control. In a relationship we know the perpetrator. When it comes to government and population the perpetrator is far more disguised. Who supported Hitler in his endeavours? The behind the scene lobbies, – without them Hitler would not have soared to the heights he did. He had an army of experts driving the propaganda which he by himself could not have generated. He sure became the evil man, while the ones behind him, as evil, mind you, never were openly shamed. It leaves you with a lot of speculations, particularly as at the moment the view to the behind scene remains obscured, veiling the driving power steering the course.There have been conspiracy theories popping up all over the place and though Societerna does not support any, nor believe them to be true it cannot deny, anything is possible. Besides, there are enough reasons why these ideas are feasible. For one, it would be naïve not to take the cunning human nature into account, their greed and hunger for power. Humans brought this planet and its life to the point of destruction and it looks like the exploitation will go on. The global economy is controlled by a few stakeholders and it will be them to determine who or what is deemed to be of value to keep and who or what is dispensable. There are also the governments who indeed strive for world domination and none of them can entice Sozieterna to trust their word.
Throughout history were battles for just that, domination. China certainly is in the process of actually achieving it. Now! That is not desirable for many reasons but who says China is responsible for the pandemic? Though it broke out in China and their appetite for anything alive to eat or use is no secret, but does it mean, China was indeed responsible? Did this new type of corona virus really evolve there to suddenly find the human host better for its survival than whatever animal it is supposed to come from? It may just be very convenient to have such species jumping virus in China because their wildlife markets are a shocking breeding ground for any disease, but China has also become a political nightmare, attempting and actually succeeding to become the dominant political power of this world. Or was it an unfortunate accident that let the virus escape from a lab in China researching biological processes and/or warfare? Or, did it come from any such labs in the world and was planted in China? Believe it or not, secret labs exist and the ends justify the means, isn’t it?
China’s policies are something one may not like about China, but who helped China to gain such political and economic power? Yes, right! It was the West, driven by globalisation efforts of its economy and the greed of the western markets for quick profits regardless what that meant for their own societies and China’s disregard of human rights. The West gave China the opportunities to grow, instead of keeping these opportunities at home and now, the West has become dependent on China more than is good or desirable. So why not cutting down the tall poppy? Isn’t it better than let it spread? Who cares about lives when other important goals are at stake? And lives are lost in any conflict. Did that ever prevent wars? That’s what secret services are good for and meant to do, intervene, find the enemies weakness, and stir up the hot spots without leaving a trail and either prevent full on war or at least prepare for it, should it become necessary. All in a day’s work for your country so it is said! Alas, secret services do not just spy on other countries, they are active agents, on a mission to carry out any orders; they are not called secret service for nothing, just remember that. And of course any rich and powerful country has labs for research on the little critters for the better or worse and some just happen to be kept in secret facilities to investigate biological warfare. But this kind of work bears an inherent danger for staff and the unaware people at large. They must be tightly guarded for security reasons at the best of time, secret facilities or not. And let’s face it, biological weapons are an excellent way to win a war. No need for the arsenal of common weapons, just release a virus. It is obviously very successful in the inanimate realm, infecting computers/systems, even John D. at home knows the damage such viruses cause. In fact the most elegant, most effective and most heinous way of warfare is contamination with viruses of both kind. The only problem in biological settings is that viruses, once released, do not discriminate and come back home to haunt you, causing death here and there as good. You believe nobody of sound mind would do such thing with the inherent risks as pointed out? Well, better think again. Consider regimes desperately clinging to power, countries at war, a terrorist group wanting to make a statement or, a psychopath on the loose and yes, it is a despicable act, condemned by everyone, but it does not mean, it won’t be done. A virus is far less likely to be traced back to the source of origin. The dirty deeds can be done and no one can prove anything. Besides, viruses can escape tightly controlled environments, accidentally and unintendedly, and only one person may be to blame. Or you believe you can control a virus, because you know its make-up and thus know how to contain it. Sadly, that of course can be a miscalculation but, – who would actually want to take the risk of damaging their very own country? Ah, it is just a risk ratio calculation to ascertain the odds. Once again, everything is possible in a world ruled by the most deadly species of all, us.
Who does not know by now, war is no longer fought with fist and sword? Old fashioned weaponry though still playing some role, because what do you do with all the weapons in store, they are really just a good show off in parades to impress the nimble minded, but that is nowadays window dressing rather than of importance, because you only need a virus to make the world stand still. The preferred virus at this point in time is for sure the cyber space invader, easier to control and to safeguard yourself from damage, which is as yet not quite as easy with the real thing. And isn’t it funny that we are told and believe we are at war against a virus? A (one sided) war we don’t win of course, because the virus will hang around no matter what you do. The best then to do is to build up and stimulate the immunsystem. The quicker that happens the better you fare and, develop at the same time protection via vaccines, which is not necessarily an all-time solution, as we know from the flu virus already. Cutting the losses down is of course helpful, though losses you will have this or the other way. But to actually think you help the situation by protracting the course with general isolation measures and lockdowns, you are not thinking straight nor logical. In fact, it is the more counterproductive strategy on every level that should be considered, from personal losses to societal and the economical. Yes, with a new virus you have to immediately quarantine until you know what you are dealing with, but a generalised lockdown later on, with a death rate hardly reaching the 2% overall, these strategies are window dressing at best. And do not bother to show me statistics that prove otherwise, because I am aware what statistics are, what they mean and how to use them. They are a tool, not the truth.
Furthermore, the questions around this COV19 are many and remain unanswered. Its origin is unconfirmed and its specific novel actions are interesting but add to the mystery. No hard evidence exists to prove it was indeed jumping species. Scientist feverishly searching for answers hypothesize while still scratching their heads, because in fact, COV19 is not really a new kind of virus, SARS is after all its family. It belongs to it no doubt, but it has some modified features which are not truly that new either, because respiratory symptoms marked SARS too. The differences are not that substantial as far as can be concluded from the information given to the public, because it spreads as vigorous as any other virus when there is no immunresponse in place and, it starts with flu like symptoms as well. It has all the viral trademark of common cold and influenza action, meaning the modifications are very specific and in standing of novel virus efficacy rather than novel symptoms, caused by a not so new virus after all. It’s preference for weak immune system hosts is no surprise either. Every bug has the best survival chance if immune system response is low or has not even been established to fight it off. Therefore the damage caused during that first infection wave is the most grave. But where did it come from? Are bats or any other so called co-hosts really providing the environment for such subtle and very specific modifications? It is well known that viruses, bacteria, in fact any organic life form adapts to their changing environment. All living things modify and alter their genetic make-up all the time, including us. It is a necessity of survival. In this case it may be a real blessing for the pangolins (and bats) if they are the source, because the resulting pandemic might safe them from extinction, though it is far from guarantied, with humans around as ignorant and ferocious as our species.
But let us look first for whom the virus is most damaging. Though spreading rapidly it affects most people mildly, meaning the majority of a population is not at risk of dying from it. It targets the respiratory system yes, but 70 to 80% have light to moderate symptoms, severely affected are the old and feeble, people with a weakened immune system and pre-existing conditions that cannot deal with added stress and, it seems to particularly like the male gender, which is indeed very novel and discriminative. Which population fits that picture and what does it cost the health care systems to look after them, even before they get sick with COV19?
As the virus sweeps through the aged like wildfire, remember, they are outnumbering the young in many western countries and are not necessarily seen as an asset, rather as a burden. The question governments raise all the time is how to provide for an aging population when hardly enough young people are around to supply the necessary income for the pensions. It has already caused headaches for government fiscal planners, who seem to believe the pension system is unsustainable as it is. Then there are the essentially poor, the welfare dependant, the homeless, the fugitives and minorities nobody wants, cramped and crowded in substandard housing or camps nobody cares to see and for whom there is neither affordable welfare nor work, and though many would like to work, work has gone to China, or elsewhere where labour is cheap. No joke! The newly implemented restrictions cause economic pain for many people but, the weakest always suffer first. The costs due to the economic downturn are inevitable and the long term consequences are shocking, but the prospects are far more bearable if you get rid of the expenses an unwanted burden brings. This way you can ease the future pain and even turn initial losses into longer term gain. Naturally and for good reasons, this is a cynical take on the compassionate governments that try to “safe lives”.
Indeed, little consideration is given to these vulnerable groups and how they fare through the crisis created by governments. It is worsened by law enforcement as these people cannot effectively follow “social distancing” directives and orders. It is also unlikely they ever get tested for the virus, whether when sick and sure not when they have died. The difference of health between the well-off and the underprivileged is substantial and we all know, accessing health care is far more easy for the affluent than the poor and disabled. Lowered immunresponse? You guessed it to whom it applies! However, stress is a problem even amongst the wealthy. To put an example out for discussion: Boris Johnson and Prince Charles. Both got infected. But who do you think is more likely to be stressed? Well, the obvious one needed intensive care. Lucky for him to get into ICU, though who knows, if he would have recovered anyway, as so many others have to without privileged treatment, or died, because a younger one needed his bed.
Anyway! The official handling of this pandemic offers more than enough points and discrepancies to ponder about, since social distancing and lockdown cannot really be equally enforced on all citizens and, slack testing for such “deadly” virus is of no more interest other than for statistics and investigations as needed for research. This should at least raise some concern and criticism on governmental attitude and actions. So far, I only hear appraisal for Scott, the Moron and his cronies, with very few exceptions. Thus, my cynical views are foremost a reflection on governments and politicians but not only and, far more frightening, their societies too. Though no government I know of has claimed it could prevent the virus from spreading, the goal is to “flatten the curve”. But why then insisting on having a deadly virus at hand? The management of a really deadly virus would be very different and would mean an enormous task to do, not something as flimsy as the current efforts. (Once again, Ebola!) So what is the real agenda here? Kudos have to be given to the Chinese (and Korea), having had to deal with the unknown virus first up. Their lockdown was justified and as successful as can be. Their reporting of course may not be forthcoming, actually never is, but their management of a possibly deadly disease in the making was impeccable. It leaves Scott, the Moron way behind, not surprisingly either.
Another interesting point to scrutinize is the species jumping of viruses generally, examining it from another perspective altogether. Environmental changes humans have caused with their activities are most likely a contributing factor to having more disease outbreaks overall. Humans may not grasp the long term risks to their health living in polluted air, consume food from exploited soils and catch fish and animals living in and from toxic waters. Bugs, algae, viruses evolve in conditions that are for humans intolerable at best of times. The jumping of them from one species to another is not as clearly understood nor without doubt by any means. It is not even the most likely. Simple life forms live in the most hostile conditions and as the changes in climate and in the environment occur they thrive, giving them more than enough opportunity to do well and multiply with and without us. After all they are the real survivors, ancient creatures, our ancestors if you like, or at least relatives. They do not need the same pristine conditions as the highly specialised creatures like us. Air pollution, toxic soil and water is a problem for us, not them and though we have the capacity to adapt and change too, they can do it far quicker and far more effective than organisms burdened by multiple cells and of sophisticated and complicated functioning. However, humans of deprived health are a feast for little creatures, any critter, big and small. But why species jumping viruses would only in recent years become frequent leaves more than a question mark. Viruses, we know, need a host to multiply. A defenceless host is a perfect host, but there is still no logic to why they would jump species. Even a modified flu virus sticks to their original host and multiplies there with new vigour. No need to search for new hosts. If it did so, these events would have occurred throughout time, not just only in rather recent years. It may however offer an explanation for things quite mysterious, or, in fact, offering an easy way out of a conundrum of not knowing how a new disease came about. And though the urge to investigate is present, the resources for doing so are not, because finding the causes is not really the priority or of particular public interest. Money flows into finding a cure, a vaccine or treatments to control the illness and though the laudable scientific communities might be interested in the cause of virus’ origin, they concentrate their efforts to where it is most useful and where money can be made and laurels can be earned. After all, the pursuit of finding a cure and eliminate a threat to human life brings glory and the money invested will bring at least dividends. Doubts about the HIV virus, jumping from monkey to human, are in fact longstanding and were raised, even substantiated by facts and, quite convincingly that this virus was man made. HIV was indeed the first reported case of such species jump. The odd thing is that this particular virus has ceased its jumping since. It has established transmission from human to human without any logical explanation why suddenly no monkey transmits the disease to humans anymore, doing it just once. Nobody is interested to ask this question for it is overshadowed by the consequences of what that virus does to humans and how to get rid of it. One could easily argue that monkey still infects human, just not as big in scale as human transmission goes. Well, not good enough prove of anything jumping, I say. The same actually is true for SARS and MERS, swine flu, camel flu whatever. You would have to eliminate all these animals to prevent the viruses jumping not just once but to prevent them from continuing to jump, which in fact, none of them seem to do. Animals have to live with a bad reputation which they may not even deserve. Poor bats, they carry the most blame. Of course, animals cause illnesses in humans, but not the way as it seems to be fashionable since HIV. And, of course, nobody would consider anyone capable of doing such a crime, to release a lab made virus for targeting people one wants to get rid of. Or was it just a co-incidence with the gay movement starting to cause red neck society great concern and then voila, there was suddenly a bug who targeted the gay men, in the Caribbean, not in Africa where the first gay was supposed to have got it from the monkey and who then travelled to the mecca of gays’ holiday hot spots, from where it was brought to first of all ports, New York. Naturally, the raised issue of a man-made virus was as quickly passed over as the blink of an eye, because experts, of course, where telling the public over and over again that it only was the monkey and never ever a human being who infected the unfortunate gay.
Whatever the reader may prefer to believe, enough doubt should remain on what experts tell you is the truth. It should make you at least cautious of who is telling whom what. Sadly, trust is a luxury and humans do the most horrific things. Who indeed can and wants to trust a government that is hungry for power and in pursuit of money and votes, with scandals popping up like popcorn and foul empty excuses for it, if any at all? Power is something you as the normal citizen cannot even fathom and what it can do to you as you climb the ladder into the high realm and, how ruthless people are on the level you have no access to. On such high platforms of power it is no problem to use people, experts, politicians and scientists, you name it, nor, to give controversial interests a legitimate spin. This is in fact what power is all about, using anyone and anything for what you want, which you on the ground level of hierarchy cannot even comprehend because you never tasted power like this and you never will in your lifetime.
Ever wondered about statistics and how confusing they are for simple John D? Statistics are a useful tool, not just for the purpose of research but for the purpose of bending the truth too. You can claim the opposite of what one says and prove it with statistics claiming to have the evidence of being right. Statistics confuse the uneducated by means of numbers and incomprehensible jargon. They do in fact bog down real and undisputable facts by drowning them in misleading statistical figures derived from premises differing from the one in discussion, therefore producing a different result. Then of course the figures presented are right as claimed by the opposing parties, but that they are beside the point, who but the statistically educated understands that? And who will win the discussion, which you will never want to listen to, because they are mind numbing and boring with numbers been thrown around like corn for the chucks and in semantics for the initiated only? Of course the ones who serve the more powerful lobby win most discussions due to plentiful funding for research that suits their interests and the clever and plentiful statistics to make their point. May be after years of ‘fighting’ for the true facts, these become apparent for all to see, but valuable time has been lost and damage was done.
Now let us look at why normal folks are so easily lead on. The majority of people actually believe in honesty and the good of human kind. It may not be any more to the same extent as it used to be, but human nature is tuned into the simple rules of existence and societal obligations. Humans are social creatures, even herd bound. Herd animals don’t usually act against the other within its herd, but they are not necessarily of the peacefully gracing type. Humans seek protection within their group, large or small, but if they can they like to take advantage of each other as they go about their lives. Their social communal life has to be regulated to keep the individuals in line which is best done by a hierarchical order and laws. The ones at the top get of course the better deal but they also make sure that the ones down in line have enough life essentials to keep the herd together and functioning. Societies have natural taboos and one of them is not to jeopardise the community they live in. They believe in authority as the well-meaning body looking after the less capable members. Though there may be the thugs on occasion, generally, authority and people work together to keep the herd safe and sound and punish the rogue characters. Of course, overcrowding is an issue and watering down the basic morale is a sign of decay. Long term, no community can tolerate it, if it wants to stay together and thrive. Crowds can easily turn into a mob pushing the top level to strengthen their power, which may not be necessarily for the good of the community and, the loss of morale leads to increased antisocial behaviour, which usually comes from the top where the power lies and infiltrates the ranks, destabilising the herd from within. We sure have the overcrowding on the world stage and definitely a moral decay and soon we will have to fight more than ever for resources, so humans stand at a crossroad and need to decide which way they want to go. Having always cherished herd living, instinctively we believe that we all really only want to do the right thing for family, community, the country, as we are accepting our vulnerability. The weaker we feel the more we need the herd. Therefore we crave rules from the top and follow rules as it safeguards communal leaving. It is really unthinkable that one of our own herd could actually inflict harm on the herd. It is treason, it is taboo. This kind of “bad” people are thought of being the exception, at least that is what we are told and do believe. But are they that rare? And what is “bad”?
Are the agents of a secret service with a licence to kill bad people, even if the target may well lie within the herd? Or are these only spy stories? Serving us normal citizens as entertainment it does not even enter our minds that secret services operate in the real world and their business is kept secret for good reasons. It is the state of knowing but not knowing that we indulge in, watching James Bond and the rest, doing business outside and for the herd. While the gritty truth escapes us, in fact, we do not really want to know that exactly these services may also take care of business within the herd. Governments make decisions behind closed doors and there are archives of files stamped secret, not to be released to the public for a certain time, if not for good. Why? Because they are deemed too sensitive for the public to know! But why? This should always be a concern, because what is not in the interest of the public? What safe guards are in place to ensure that the public is not duped? And who says governments never make decisions that could harm the public, certain people or minorities, or people who try to expose foul deeds? You would have to be definitely naïve if you thought a government would not harm you ever. To be fair, we need to look at us citizens too. That’s in fact where it really gets frightening.
Would you do something that is against your community, or the government, or against the law ? Never, you say, not you, others do. Therefore, you have nothing to hide and no objection to be scrutinized and watched. If it was for the good of the community it is justified and punishment serves the peace and as a deterrent too. You would never resist police to enter your home for the purpose to prove you are a law abiding citizen, are insightful to your government’s purposeful control and surveillance as it seems to be necessary to safeguard you and your loved ones from harm, including subversive elements in the community that could be dangerous to you and all. You would not protest against any of governmental decisions nor that of their institutions, nor oppose any policies deemed to be in your and the public’s interest. You are no whistle-blower because you truly and with all your heart you can generally trust your government doing the right thing and because you live in a democracy, where governments get elected by people like you. You need, you want, you should be protected from harm, criminals, fanatics, enemies of the state and, subversive elements who ruin the overall peace! Hallelujah! You live in heaven, not on earth, where governments do subdue folks for political reasons, where people lose their reputation, their livelihood and get killed over cover-ups be it for mismanagement and corruption, political agendas or criticism, or just plain suppression against powerful interests.
Don’t ever doubt and never forget, obedience and compliance does not save you from being exploited, nor from being sacrificed. The opposite is true, because with such attitude you no longer live in a so called free world. You are a servant to a regime, like it or not. You have lost your freedom, your intellectual liberties, your creative boldness, in fact, you are no longer the individual but the conformist who is better suited to wear grey uniforms than colourful cloth. Of course, regimes offer opportunities too and they foster their prodigies. Your skills may be utilized, if not exploited and it is always in the interest of the state, who will never let you forget it. Conforming to the machinery of power you as an individual no longer exist. So, folks, if you care about freedom, better keep an open mind instead of trusting in the good will of even elected democratic governments and their institutions, particularly when they favour secrecy over transparency in governmental business.
Does that have anything to do with the corona pandemic? By all means and far more significant than you think. How the outbreak is managed and impacts on our lives, how the public is informed and motivated to deal with it and how the aftermath will be, it warrants your participation to make it beneficial for you. With obedience you will have to put up with whatever the top decides and it may not be good for you.
It is also interesting that we are meant to fight war against an enemy who has no intention to fight us, just use us, but the propaganda of going to war keeps us marching and we do so to the tunes, slogans and jingles, as soldiers do in real war. It is extraordinary indeed how catch phrases of advertisement are turned into catch cries of war. It puts your emotions on high heat and hones in to your herd mentality. But a virus is a natural living organism. It has no intent to harm you as a person. Viruses are just more successful than any human beings as far as survival goes, having found a way to survive despite having no means to do so on their own. They utilize what or who is the most suitable for their propagation. They are part of life and part of nature just as you and me. Instead of going to war to suppress such formidable creature it would be far more effective to keep cool and look how to prevent our surmise by becoming a more unpalatable host. Yes it means, washing hands, sneezing into a handkerchief or even a sleeve if nothing else is at hand and, it means that you stay away from crowds and abstain from close physical interaction, particularly when you got some sign of illness regardless of what ailment it might be, because you don’t want to give it to your lover, your kids or anyone else as it could be a nasty present indeed. But all this precautions should be a natural attitude of yours at any time, corona or not. It should definitely not need governmental order and policing. Mind you, if a virus is indeed so deadly to warrant quarantine on a big scale the government has an obligation to step up and assist the public, but to call it going to a war, is not helpful as it blurs the focus of attention and distracts from what the goals are. The focus should be on proper protection, separating meticulously the hot spots from the rest of the public and tracking anyone who may have moved on and could spread the illness unknowingly. Testing and quarantine are part of proper management but not indiscriminate and to the detriment of a whole country and its people who are stopped from going about their business on grounds of suspicion alone. There is no need to organize the public for war, for it is a health issue. No need for such propaganda to fight an enemy whom you cannot defeat, since the creature is far more intelligent in its survival strategies than the humans who are going to war against it. By the way, not all scientists agree, viruses are actually a living organism. What does that say about the experts, battling and bickering over opinions and definitions? So! Do humans ever learn? They have gone to war with nature all the time. Despite the fact that they never have nor ever will win, they keep on trying. Of course, nature is not fighting a war against humans either, it just is adjusting to and correcting the damage humans have inflicted on it. So please forget this stupid war cry of “being in it together” to fight and endure and win a war. It is already clear that the virus is here to stay, meaning it is way off from getting defeated.
And last but not least, the reporting of infection and death rates as adjusted daily are anything but reliable. Some countries will be honest in their assessment and passing on their figures but others will not and many more have not even the means to actually ascertain any reliable data. Meanwhile, as the overzealous governments realize they have to get out of this mess they created sooner than later, one can already watch the attempts they make to “ease” the way back to normal. Stalling serves them, because no government can afford to admit that not the virus but their caring is devastating and that they should be ashamed of themselves for being the ignorant they are. The “flattening of the curve” comes naturally, that is when the host bodies organise a solid immune response and the virus cannot invade unchecked. And note, it is not achieved by government rules. The politicians count on a vaccine being developed which is frantically searched for but is unlikely to beat the human immune system which also works frantically, just with less ado. However, while you helped the government to survive the embarrassment of a poor coping health care system, your suffering will not end with the pandemic having run its course.
But as the critical voices amongst folks get louder and the governments can see that these lockdowns cannot go on for much longer, the claims that the infection curve is flattening because the lockdowns were successful is beyond relevance, but it looks wonderful in the colours on the graphs. It has little to do but of having the virus under control as it may return lively when the restrictions are lifted. What is counted upon though is, that the population has meanwhile gained some resistance, after all the spread of the virus was never halted. And the public gets praised for it’s so wonderful cooperation preventing a disaster, which turns out was little more than an ankle bite of a barking little dog in defence of its territory. However, the governments need to safe face and the tactics they use are as dubious as their crisis management. It should not be too hard though for the public was so easily manipulated in the first instance and bears their losses without complaint.
But finally, who is going to pay the bill for this “war” on this oh so deadly virus. As usual, the foot soldier and the commoner. They die first on the field and always foot the bill. The rich usually don’t even pay as much taxes as the normal employee, who has little chance to avoid fiscal demands. So if the virus has not yet got you, your future well-being is far from guaranteed.
One needs to ask, if you are at war, who is your enemy? The virus is not your enemy, it is a health issue, as we should by now understand. In fact, the agenda of this “war” is a global game of repositioning power. The politicians, the shining knights in armour united for a mission, they believe in, which is but of political nature not that of health. Being in position of power gives them the opportunity to determine the course their countries should take in the world’s future as they find it should be, or as they want it to have. They do not realize your pain nor do they care because, how could they all be wrong when experts tell them what to do and fellow politicians of the world share the vision! After all, isn’t it for the good of their country? Sorry, it isn’t. It only serves the power corrupted egos, the maniacs of self-indulgence. Besides, high numbers of supportive friends do not make something right or prove something to be true. It just means they believe in the same thing, true or not.
So, since we have a war of a very different kind of what we actually believe it to be, we sure have losers and winners, short and long term ones. Short term the industry of old is likely to come out of it well, already in waiting for more digging and toiling with increased fervour to make up for the losses they had, while venturing into the new fields where money can be made and, without the pesky climate change protesters, because the soldiers are back from war, glad to find work so they can feed their family; it will be as always, money makes money. The ones sent into battle are shaken and wounded but also subdued. The state power has been established; the right to protest no longer exists. All is well controlled and order reinstalled.
China sure will be on the winning side too, despite public sentiment and governments’ rhetoric. Even if the West should be able to get some of their manufacturing industries back on home soil, China will not be brought to its knees which may well have been the intention, listening to various political arguments. China has all it needs on technology, intelligence and resilience. Countries do rely big on them for big trading, not just a few factories here and there. The world already needs China more than China needs the world. It also does everything to win more countries over, looking successful, efficient, and capable of dealing with a crisis and hard times. It even gives a helping hand even now where needed. Though of course, this hand is an iron fist, but that seems for many rather admirable as it feeds into the herd mentality that believes a strong ruler guarantees the herd’s well-being.
The march to world dominance may have stalled a bit for all who are engaging in this game, not substantially though. This is the war that COV19 is used for. Sorry soldier, you are no more than the fly dangling in the spider’s web. So who are the losers? Well, do I really have to answer that question? I think not.
Life will never be the same as it was before the Corona Pandemic. The scars of what just happened are far too significant. Hopefully there is a change and hopefully, it will go the right direction, against all odds. But as far as the signs go, it leaves little room for optimism. “Sieg heil” the masses were shouting. It worked for a while but then there was no victory and certainly no salvation. -
About…..looking back on 2019
With Christmas in full swing and the end of the year at the doorstep, it is time to reflect again on what has passed.
2019 was a year of a personal roller coaster that started at the end of 18. It challenged me on so many levels that I really cannot compare it to anything else but to a giant roller coaster. Mind you, it was scary and exhilarating at the same time and, it was stomach churning. Overall, it was a good year. But, to be honest, I don’t really want to have another one like it. Then again, I may not have a choice, so I better look at the bright side, the fun side, the one that makes you feel alive, even if it is only for a brief moment.Unfortunately, the year marks a sinister turn for the local community as well as for the rest of the world. What scientists have been warning about for so many years, with the warning sign being well and truly present and ever more compounding, they were ignored, until now, 2019, when they hit hard and without mercy. 2019 marks the year of Australia burning as it never has before. Drought, cyclones, bushfires were always part of the harsh Australian living conditions, but nothing like the inferno of the bushfires right now. It makes 2019 an “annus horribilis”.
It also marks the year of a government that has a prime minister who thinks he is the king of the castle. Let’s give him the appropriate name, “Scott, the Moron”. And if this disgrace of a self-centred “political leader”, including his cronies, is not given the boot, the country will be in for worse. There is no excuse for his inaction on climate change, particularly as Australia is one of the major contributors to greenhouse emissions. He may be plain stupid, arrogant, ignorant, incompetent, or all of these, – one is enough to justify his removal. Winning the election on the basis of being a hard worker, a decent man with moral clout who may serve the country well and possibly become even a reasonable political leader, well, it turns out, the power entrusted to him, went right into his head and smoked everything out, what may have been, may be, a person of sound moral standing and integrity. Or maybe, he just never had any of it to begin with. We know how power corrupts people but one can never dismiss the fact that, to be corrupted, tempted to “sin”, stray from the path of truth, only happens when there is a weakness in character, the fertile ground to let it sprout and grow, even take over like a sudden burst of algae bloom. In any case, characters like these have not the quality that makes them a good choice for responsible positions in any enterprise, because they will run any business into ground due to their delusions about themselves and the work they think they ought, or are expected to do. Their views are totally skewed on to themselves. Due to their self-centredness they have no grasp of actual reality, in fact, they don’t care about it, because they are so self-absorbed. It is their only reality to which they cling to, actually, have to cling to. However, they also grave to be validated by others, wife, church, political party, anything really. But mind you, they smell power, they want power, the problem is, their flawed character cannot handle it. On a private level one may feel sorry for such a person, but as a public figure, sympathy is lost on them. They need to be kept away from power for the sake of the public and, for their own sake too.
2019 marks itself also as the point of no return. Unless dramatic change takes place, the whole planet with the life as we know it, is on the brink of disaster. But, let’s face it, we actually are already beyond it. Even if the change would be as radical as it has to be, we are already only saving what is the most essential. Lots is already gone and more is disappearing as we speak.After all, we are talking greenhouse emissions, industrial lobbies, agricultural industry that has been over-fertilizing, over-poisoning, over-exploiting everything that actually is essential for life, and we are talking about our own inability to let go of all the things we have become dependent on and believe, we cannot do without. If anyone denies the sins that have been committed for decades, he cannot ever have understood what ecological systems are. Or he simply does not want to know. And there are the ones who find pleasure in destruction because they cannot find the happiness they seek, despite dancing around the golden idol that promises but never delivers it. The story of Dr. Faustus, who sells his soul to the devil, is in fact more relevant today than ever, because now we are not only talking about single people’s bad choices, we are talking about mass destruction and the fate of a planet which has supported life in abundance in the most wonderful and, astonishing way. But we, the human species, are ruining it singlehandedly in no time at all. Hey Dr. Faustus, how is it now, since you are in hell?
Microcosms – macrocosms, they cannot be separated. All systems are interlinked and life can only exist in a state called homeostasis, when these systems are held within a certain range of balance, which is actually quite tolerant to fluctuations, but cannot sustain life, when one arm of the scale is overburdened. Nature has always been able to even out the loads, just like our own body puts up with stress, but both will give in after too much abuse. It may happen suddenly or slowly, but inevitably it will happen, if the stressor is not removed.
What Australian’s local community is experiencing at present is sadly the consequence of ruthless exploitation of the local resources, apart from the effects it also has globally. It is mindboggling that algae bloom in waterways and the fish dying, starved of oxygen, is blamed on the weather with, of course, far too high temperatures, due to climate change, but the fact, that the streams have been polluted with runoffs from agriculture, fertilizers and pesticides combined, is glossed over as if that had no impact on water quality, be it rivers, lakes or the sea. Nor is the change of water-flow taken into account, with dams for irrigation purposes and less flow due to drought, all of these impacting on so many levels, compounding over the years in a high yield oriented agricultural industry to the point of earth exhaustion. Quantity of production was and is the goal, not the quality of the produce. The fruit, the vegetables, anything that is produced in such environments, forced to grow fast, suffers from loss of flavour, texture and nutritional value. And it comes at the cost of so many things, not even accounted for, like the loss of homes and nutrition for other creatures, including ourselves. But the consequences of water pollution does not end here; the natural process of recycling the waste obviously benefits the algae, while suffocating the rest. One has to remember that algae have to die and must be recycled too, another biomass that is in the end contributing to an overload of waste, which even a most tolerant of planet can no longer handle, far exceeding the range it is accustomed or able to. The agricultural industry is as good contributing to the greenhouse effect as the coal, oil and gas industry, though not in such obvious ways, despite their methane emissions are nothing to laugh about. Worth the while, another interesting point should be made here, namely the point that cattle is blamed for releasing too much methane into the atmosphere! Well yes, they do produce methane, but the fuel industry and in fact, all animals of this world, including humans, thanks to our metabolism, produce and release methane into the atmosphere. It certainly outweighs the cows’ methane contribution any time, would you not think so? Another joke is to blame the smoker for getting lung cancer because of his bad habit, but wondering about why the non-smoker gets it as well. Nobody seems to blame the gas emissions of industry and our beloved cars, which cause lung cancer in all, smoker and non-smoker alike. So no surprise here and no surprise about the bigots either, who hone in on the weak links in the chain, but do not stand up against the giants of air polluters. Just to make sure, dear reader, the points made above are not meant to propagate cattle farming, nor encourage people to smoke, far from it, but it is irritating to see emphasis put on the fly as the villain while the elephant is left in the shop smashing it.
Of course, 2019 stands out as the culmination of all these factors and for all to see how it devours us. It is the bill presented to us, having filled our bellis and stuffed our minds, with endless desire for more. Even the most arrogant and ignorant and antisocial character admits that something is happening, but they still want to distract from the reality, discussing endlessly what that something might be, minimising it, of course and, never accepting any responsibility. These people have certainly personal issues, unresolved and denied as good. Their denial is pathological, neurotic or just plain strategic, as the guilty do in court, pleading not guilty in the pursuit to get away with their crimes. But what is with the rest of us? Unable to act? To weak a voice?
The bushfires have been burning since September, some have become mega fires, burning uncontrolled and may burn out by themselves or when it rains, which however may not be as soon as hoped for, again due to climate change, delaying the wet season. It is hard to comprehend what it means to fauna and flora and of course the cost to humans in the areas immediately affected. But the bush will recover quickly, some say. That is how Australia has coped with bushfires throughout history. True, it still needs rain but and, not all will recover as quickly as necessary before the next bushfire season is due. Besides, we have not even got to the end of this one. And, to rebuild businesses with an uncertain future ahead, many struggling already under the long drought, one can only wonder, who is willing to do rebuild? The aftermath will have a long arm effect for all Australians. So it is for the world’s population. Well yes, there are too many people but to regulate growth does not mean killing them off is the way to do that. However, to be truly fair to Mother Nature, the planet is better off without a species that has become a pest.
Anyway, as it is, the consequences of climate change are indeed a global problem, because Earth is still the only place for us humans to live and the way we are going, there will be little left to live on. Space our only hope of saving the human kind from its ultimate extinction? What a joke! It makes good material for science fiction, but has no realistic chance. How many of you dear reader know what space conditions mean for our bodies? Ah, technology will keep us safe? Sure, it is just a matter of time setting it all up, isn’t it? Well, but time is not on our side, sorry!
The reader may now object. If it is not space, surely, humans are adaptable, intelligent, surely they will survive anything as long as they have limbs to crawl and brains to think? They will always find something to eat. Sure, and maybe they do! But who will make it and will it be a life worth living? Life for any who manage to survive will certainly be very different. However! Not all is gloom and doom. It may even be a more desirable life after all, with a world population reduced to manageable numbers where co-operation and peace is finally possible, because it is the only means to stay alive. Yes, a future is possible, if…..
Instead of speculating on an uncertainties, let us rather do what is necessary to have a future at all. Unfortunately the current Australian prime minister and politicians across the country have no idea what they should and must do. Scott, the Moron, probably needs another holiday to think about, having only had a few days recently which he could not delay. After all, he is just a dad, “who does not hold a hose to extinguish fires” (quote). He is primarily a family man who kept his promise to his kids to have a holiday with them, because that is what good dads do. Besides, everyone is entitled to have a break, isn’t it? And what a good holiday it was, luxury for free, how could one ever say no to that! Question: What is with the firefighters who do hold the hose and who indeed would need a break? They are not even getting any money for their work, being volunteers!
Never mind, ‘Scott, the Moron’ is back home now, returning one day earlier from his holiday in Hawaii, probably on advice of his spin doctors, because there was obvious disgruntlement over his absence as the prime minister, while a big chunk of the country was going up in flames. Never mind! Here he is, refreshed now, Hawaii being a far better place to get some fresh air, not like home, where too much smoke is polluting it. And would you believe, he felt validated by the fact that the public became ‘anxious’ over his absence, obviously needing him to help them cope! Is this guy for real or indeed so plain that he does not get it? Anger, mate, was the emotion your “folk” felt. ANGER! But you deserve to get down in history as the prime minister who had no clue what leadership really means.
2019 unfortunately also shows how democracy has lost its meaning and that it is in the process of being replaced by autocratic rule. One can only hope that the public will wake up and exercise its power as they are the foundation of a democratic state. But, nothing will be easy to correct and the costs will be immense.
Last but not least, Sozieterna had to take a good look too what their future actions should be to contribute to life and survival on this planet. The conclusion was that our foundations are solid and our constitution is timeless. We are and always will be custodians of life in whatever form it comes. Each of us has and always will work as individuals and as a community whichever way we can, to give life the best chance to prosper in a meaningful way and to the benefit of all.
Council was right with the hesitation regarding this website that puts Sozieterna into the public eye. But they were not right with the reasons brought forward against. Not to worry! It just shows of how inseparable conclusions are from the base they arise from. Council has no longer an issue they are concerned with as there has been no negative impact that would be a concern. Whatever it does, is better than doing nothing to be of service to our nation and of service to others and all that is. Council acknowledges that the public is far too occupied with other things anyway, good or bad, trivial or not. People have no time, no patience, and no interest in pondering about a website like Sozieterna. Life happens in the fast lane, even reading has become something to consume and fast reading is a means to do so. Thought is goal directed rather than allowed to roam. The public arena is full of entertainment appealing to the senses and overloading the brains on purpose, to mould and fill them, as it suits the manipulating forces in the background. These are highly intelligent beings. They have no love for anything and no respect for life but they yield the power behind the scene and make the puppets dance. These manipulators are not concerned with Sozieterna, being such a minority. Because they have the masses in their hands, soft as wax and outweighing all.However, council knows that every drop counts to make an ocean and undercurrents can wash out any rock. Time is of no relevance in the big scheme of life. It is only significant for the individual life and Sozieterna emphasizes on using it wisely.
Therefore, our website will go on to do what it did all this years, be a meeting site for Sozieternas and a place for hungry brains that like food for thoughts. As for me the editor, I hope 2020 will be in my favour, letting me concentrate on a journey rather than roller coaster rides.
